Title: Publishing Integrity Manager
Location: New Delhi
The Publishing Integrity Manager will divide time between publication ethics case management and data vendor management. Ethics case management includes providing clear, neutral guidance and best‑practice support to internal stakeholders, including journal Editors and ACS staff. Data analysis support includes the development and enforcement of data policies and standards across ACS journal portfolio, including data validation and data initiatives project-based work. The ideal candidate is highly detail‑oriented, able to make independent assessments under time constraints, and skilled at communicating sensitive integrity issues in a professional, unbiased manner.
The individual will report to an Associate Publisher, based in the ACS International India office in New Delhi and work closely with the Senior Manager, Publishing Integrity Office, based in ACS Headquarters in the U.S.

About ACS Publications
ACS Publications is a Division of the ACS and has all the characteristics of a medium-large scientific and technical publishing organization. It is one of two Divisions charged with serving the dual function of generating a reliable annual surplus to support the Society’s programmatic activities, while also fulfilling a core goal of the Society in advancing knowledge in the field of chemistry and the chemical enterprise. The Division publishes 90+ high-quality peer-reviewed journals covering the breadth of chemistry and allied fields, as well as numerous other high-quality products and services of benefit to the global community.
Within the ACS Publications Division, the Publishing Intelligence and Analytics team performs two main functions:
- Publishing Analytics team, charged with sourcing and utilizing data, metrics, and quantitative analysis to provide insights into the performance of, resource needed for, and opportunities to grow ACS Publications portfolio
- Publishing Integrity Office, charged with overseeing publications ethics within the ACS portfolio, the development and management of data standards, and advancing Inclusion and Belonging best practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with and provide vendor support for ethics case management.
- Develop and provide documentation and resources to support editorial teams’ handling of ethics cases.
- Help to monitor and develop tools to better identify and address unethical behavior within the publishing process.
- Assist with training and monitoring of vendor staff that perform data analysis checks for ACS journals during the peer review process and update training documentation.
- Respond to editor, reviewer, and author queries about data-reporting requirements and be responsible for responding to inquiries received through the ACS Research Data email, ACS Data Help Desk, or escalating any data related questions.
- Recommend and implement data requirements for journals and update Author Guidelines and the ACS Publishing Center as needed.
Required Education And Experience
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. required; postdoctoral experience preferred) ideally in chemistry and allied sciences, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Understanding of scientific peer review workflows and authorship ethics; prior experience in research or publication ethics is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex or sensitive information clearly and neutrally.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact diplomatically and efficiently with a global community of authors, reviewers, and editors.
- Demonstrated project management skills and strategic thinking ability.
- Exceptional attention to detail, documentation discipline, and analytical judgment.
- Broad scientific literacy and the ability to evaluate technical information across disciplines.
- Knowledge of organic compound nomenclature; knowledge of basic crystallography or computational chemistry is a plus.
- Familiarity with ACS Style Guide standards of chemical technical writing; familiarity with chromatographic, spectroscopic, and other standard methods used for isolating and characterizing organic compounds.
- Experience with databases, Microsoft Office, email platforms, Web based applications, SciFinder, and PDF editing tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Ability to travel for planned meetings and events up to 5-10% of the time, including both domestic and international travel.
- Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in an academic or industrial setting.
- 2 years of project management/leadership experience is preferred
