<![CDATA[ The Instrumentation Engineer specify, design, size and select all type of instruments and actuated valves – including control valves, shutdown valves, on-off valves, etc. They understand and apply client specifications as well as international standards and industrial best practices. They also specify and provide technical requirements for all instrumentation bulk material as well as instrumentation cables.They are also responsible for managing vendors and suppliers for all instrumentation equipment, as well as supporting installation at shop or site.
- Review and understand client specifications during proposal phase. Raise clarifications and deviations from client requirements in the ITT.
- Create the instrumentation design basis and project specifications for instrumentation in accordance with client’s requirements.
- Provide technical requirements for instrumentation and preliminary MTO’s for instrumentation bulk material during proposals.
- Size and specify instrumentation and communication cables. Define cable routing, prepare bulk material MTOs.
- Provide inputs to other disciplines during project execution.
- Participate in engineering meetings.
- Responsible to deliver instrumentation engineering documents as per project schedule and in accordance with project budget, including documents such as instrument index, I/O schedule, cables schedule.
- Provide engineering hours estimate during proposals for their discipline. Responsible for tracking engineering hours for their discipline during project execution.
- Participate in peer review of P&ID’s and provide inputs as required. Define type of instrumentation that is required during project execution.
- Develop all instruments datasheets – pressure, level, temperature, flow, fire and gas detectors, horns and beacons, junction boxes, etc, material selection and technical specification to be included in the technical requisition during project execution.
- Define together with vendors, control valves, actuated valves, analyzers and flow measurement instruments.
- Develop all instrumentation detail drawings and hook ups during project execution.
- Perform technical bid analysis of all instrumentation and instrumentation bulk material. Provide feedback to vendors.
- Review, comment and approve all outsourced instrumentation engineering.
- Review, comment and approve all instrumentation vendors’ documentation.
- Participation and close out action items from safety studies such as HAZOP.
- Participate in 3D model review, and close out action items for their discipline.
- Participate of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) as needed.
- Define and review deliverables for SIL studies.
- Lead and assist junior Instrumentation engineers/designers when developing engineering deliverables.
- Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their discipline in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Provide support to PSDs and Operation Teams as required.
- Ability and willingness to travel, as required to fulfill project and business needs.
- Actively support, participate in, and maintain the integrity and on-going function of the company and facility HSSE program, ensuring a safe/healthy work environment.
