Role Description The Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to students, faculty, and staff within the campus community. Daily responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and managing medications, collaborating with counselors and medical staff, and maintaining accurate clinical records in line with ethical and regulatory standards. The role also involves offering crisis intervention, contributing to mental health awareness initiatives, and participating in case discussions and referral planning. This is a part-time, on-site role located at JIMS, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, requiring regular presence on campus during agreed working hours.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Medicine and Psychiatry, with the ability to integrate medical and psychological perspectives in patient care.
- Demonstrated expertise in Psychiatric Care and Mental Health, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing follow-up.
- Experience or training in Adolescent Psychiatry and youth mental health, preferably within educational or campus settings.
- Recognized medical degree (MD/DNB in Psychiatry or equivalent) with current registration from the relevant medical council.
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with diverse populations, maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary teams, including counselors, administrators, and primary care providers.
- Familiarity with evidence-based psychiatric interventions and awareness of cultural factors affecting mental health in academic environments.
- Prior experience in institutional, hospital, or university-based practice is an advantage.
