Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Prosthetist Orthotist role based at Thanjavur. The Prosthetist Orthotist will assess patients with limb loss or musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, perform gait and functional evaluations, and develop individualized treatment plans. Daily responsibilities include designing, fabricating, fitting, and adjusting prosthetic and orthotic devices, ensuring comfort, safety, and functional outcomes in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons and other medical professionals. The role involves documenting clinical findings, maintaining accurate patient records, and educating patients and caregivers on the use and care of devices. The Prosthetist Orthotist will also participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, contribute to quality improvement, and support training activities where required.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Prosthetics, including assessment, design, fabrication, fitting, and follow-up care.
- Candidates should possess skills in Orthotics, including evaluation, device selection, customization, and functional training.
- Candidates should possess core Medicine knowledge relevant to rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions.
- Candidates should possess experience collaborating with Orthopedic Surgery teams, including understanding surgical interventions and post-operative rehabilitation needs.
- Candidates should possess skills in Gait Analysis, including observation, use of basic assessment tools, and interpretation of findings to guide device design.
- Recognized degree or diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics from an accredited institution.
- Registration with relevant professional or regulatory bodies, where applicable.
- Strong patient-centered communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Commitment to ethical practice, accurate documentation, and adherence to institutional protocols and safety standards.
- Prior experience in a hospital or rehabilitation center setting is an advantage.
