Skills and Qualifications:
B.A. Degree with supporting work in business administration and/or finance.
• Five (5) years of experience in public school business administration or related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in school business administration with the ability to lead a
department.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully and positively with staff,
community, and the media.
• Possesses deep understanding of sound financial practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of general and categorical funding streams and the restrictions on
those funds.
• Knowledge and ability to implement internal controls.
• Ability to deliver written and oral reports to board of directors.
• Experience in school construction and facilities management preferred.
Reports to: Superintendent
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
• The individual in this leadership position will plan, organize, and manage the business operations of the
district including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing, cash management, risk
management, and inventory control
Representative Duties- Business Operations:
• Prepare and control the annual budget. Prepare reports to assist in monitoring of all school and program
budgets.
• Direct Business Office activities including payroll, leave records, accounting, grant reporting, accounts
payable, receivables, investments, and inventory control.
• Supervise all purchasing activities including preparation of bids, telephone quotations, informal
negotiations, and procurement.
• Prepare interim and annual financial reports using generally accepted accounting principles and
standards. Prepare reports for the Board of
• Directors, Superintendent, Administrative Team, and community.
Support Services:
• Assist in the development and monitoring of plans to accomplish the goals and objectives of the support
programs and all district goals.
• Provide ongoing resources, support, and consultation to supervisors.
• Ability to work with OSPI, ESD, WASBO, SAO, and leaders of different agencies to promote positive
change.
• Ability to assist principals with ASB guidance and funding.

Other Duties:
• Fosters two-way communication with board members.
• Provide long-range financial planning for district operations and capital finance.
• Prepare yearly enrollment projections and assist superintendent with staffing projections.
• Provide ongoing consultation and advice on budgetary, financial, and business matters to administrators
and department heads.
• Manage contracts and interlocal agreement.
