POSITION SUMMARY:
This Marine Field Service Technician provides technical support for ProMinent water treatment equipment across marine and coastal environments, including ships, ports, terminals, and related infrastructure. Products include water treatment process analyzers, ballast and wastewater treatment systems, chemical metering pumps, chlorine dioxide generators, PID control systems, engineered packages, and 3rd-party equipment such as filters, controllers and test equipment as needed.
This is a high travel, “road warrior” position supporting installations, commissioning, training, and troubleshooting at customer sites across domestically and some international, with a strong focus on major port regions (e.g., Miami, Port Canaveral, Gulf Coast, Northeast ports, and other coastal hubs). Candidates should ideally reside near a major port in the U.S.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for marine and industrial water treatment systems, including pumps, controllers, analyzers, engineered systems, filters, UV systems and test equipment.
- Perform water chemistry testing for pH, ORP, Chlorine and other parameters.
- Perform on-site field service at ports, vessels, terminals, and customer facilities, including commissioning, startup, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Provide phone support for technical inquiries from Channel Partners, Engineers, Contractors, and End-users when not traveling.
- Deliver customer training onboard vessels and at port facilities, ensuring proper system operation and compliance.
- Develop technical and sales support materials (presentations, training guides, documentation) tailored to marine applications.
- Serve as a technical contact for customers including ship operators, port engineers, contractors, and distributors.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Production) regarding issues, timelines, and solutions.
- Plan and execute field service assignments end-to-end, including travel logistics, service work, reporting, and follow-up.
- Support internal functions such as testing, repair, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with technical training programs for internal teams and external partners.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required:
- Associate’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering technology, or 5+ years equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting water treatment equipment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of process control systems and PLCs.
- Hands-on proficiency with diagnostic tools (DVM, calibration tools, hand tools, etc.).
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools).
- Valid driver’s license.
Marine / Travel-Specific Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel 75%+, often on short notice.
- Comfortable working in marine environments (ports, vessels, offshore conditions, varying climates).
- Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC card, port access credentials, and/or security clearances as required.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends or extended travel when supporting vessel schedules.
- Passport for international marine assignments.
Preferred:
- Experience in marine, maritime, or port-based operations.
- Familiarity with ballast water treatment systems, wastewater systems, or shipboard equipment.
- Prior experience working directly with ship crews, port authorities, or maritime contractors.
- SAP and Salesforce experience.
