Position Description
As a Project Steering Manager, responsible for leading New Project Steering activities from feasibility stages, within corporate purchasing and provide inputs on Investment, material cost and timeline to Product Management. Work closely with Product Management till the new projects are approved. Main tasks include the following:
- Closely Work with Product Management and get agreement on the overall Project premises
- Communicate and drive the overall project within the Purchasing team
- Prepare purchasing evaluation for different project premises under discussion in terms of:
- One off expenses for purchasing
- Sourcing strategy- Import vs. Localization, Make vs. Buy, Tool sourcing from Europe vs. Asia etc.
- Material cost estimation (support project controlling with help of direct purchase)
- Potential technical levers for optimization of One off expenses and material cost
- Part availability situation – based on project timeline
- Possible remedies for improving part availability, optimization levers for part development timeline
- List of open issues, requiring clarifications from other areas.
- Potential chances and risks to optimize Investments
- Coordinating with the TCP, Finance, Controlling , Direct purchase and SRM to identify and probable solution for any risks in project.
Primary Responsibilities
1.1) As a core Product Team member, evaluate various project premises of project types from successor models, and new projects
1.2) Prepare the Project feasibility study in terms of Investment, material cost (coordination with buyers) and overall timeline Evaluation of overall Project.
1.3)Prepare purchasing evaluation for different project premises : one off expenses for purchasing
1.4)Evaluate the project premise inputs covering technical content - in form or RGB/TKB/TPB, feature matrix, project volume, project milestone plan, manufacturing depth, aggregate plan, take rate, project exchange rate etc.
1.5)Plan and support on supplier cost workshops to generate ideas for reduction of material cost and one-off expenses
1.6)Material cost estimation (support project controlling with help of direct purchase).
1.7)Prepare and consolidate potential chances and risks due to current level of information.
1.8)Analyze and implement the optimization plan to reduce the Investment with different levers.
1.9)Consolidate data related to Benchmarking with competitor’s models.
1.10)Investment target monitoring and controlling on daily basis.
1.11)Consolidation of all investment data and prepare a summary on weekly basis for management review on plan vs actual Investments.
1.12)Workout with Investment controlling for VAI /IAM preparations and calenderization.
1.13)Coordination with SRM and prepare part by part timeline and make a backward working to arrive at the RFQ release dates for the Projects
1.14)Participation in concerned meetings to facilitate and resolve the issues from Buyers to launch the RFQ in a timely manner (Volume, EBR, etc)
2.1) Track on time supplier nomination through periodic reviews of project status for all parts.
2.2)Tacking of e Nominations, Kickoff by coordination with direct purchase.
2.3)Coordination with SRM team for timely commitment sign off.
2.4)Identify and prepare the list of critical parts from timelines perspective.
2.5)Responsible to attend the Product team and SET’s meeting.
2.6)Track tasks from SET’s and product team meetings.
2.7)B-release plan vs actual tracking and analyzing the risk or any delay in project timelines.
3.1) Maintain the master Investment file and updation of decided investments in the master file
3.2)Weekly reporting of Investment status: Plan Vs Target Vs actual and prepare the investment status for internal Purchasing reporting
3.3)Weekly status of decided parts, kick off & commitment meetings status and distribution of report
3.4)Master open issues list of Project steering activities and review and reporting of all open points
3.5)Support in Planning & organizing of critical parts supplier reviews after nomination
Educational qualifications preferred: BE / Diploma
