About the Role
As part of our strategic growth, we are looking for an experienced Institutional Sales professional with strong exposure to Government Projects, Public Sector Organizations, and Institutional Business Development. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of government procurement systems, approval processes, and relationship management across various government departments and agencies.
Senior Manager / Manager – Institutional Sales & Government Projects.
Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra (Travel across assigned territories as required).
Function: Sales | Institutional Business | Government Projects | Business Development.
Industry Preference: Steel | TMT Bars | Structural Steel | Building Materials | Cement | Construction Materials.
Experience: 6–15 Years.
Responsibilities
Institutional Sales
- Develop and expand institutional sales across Central Government, State Government, PSUs, Semi-Government Organizations, and Large Corporate Institutions.
- Identify and generate new business opportunities from infrastructure and public sector projects.
- Build long-term business relationships with key institutional customers and decision-makers.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth through institutional and project sales.
Government Project Sales
- Develop business from Government Infrastructure Projects, Smart City Projects, Roads & Highways, Bridges, Irrigation, Water Supply, Metro Rail, Airports, Ports, Power Projects, Defense Projects, and Industrial Infrastructure.
- Coordinate with EPC Contractors, Project Consultants, Government Agencies, and Project Authorities.
- Monitor upcoming government tenders and ensure timely participation.
- Prepare project-wise sales strategy and business pipeline.
Government Liaisoning
- Build professional relationships with officials across Government Departments and Regulatory Authorities.
- Coordinate with technical, procurement, engineering, and commercial officials for approvals and business development.
- Facilitate smooth communication between the organization and government stakeholders.
- Support management in resolving government-related commercial and procedural matters.
Product Approval & Enlistment
- Drive product approval and vendor registration across Government Departments and Public Sector Organizations.
- Coordinate documentation for vendor registration, technical approvals, and qualification processes.
- Ensure timely renewal of registrations and approvals.
- Maintain compliance with departmental procurement standards and technical specifications.
- Expand the organization's approved vendor base across government institutions.
Tender Management
- Identify relevant tenders through government procurement portals and institutional sources.
- Coordinate with internal commercial, finance, legal, quality, logistics, and technical teams for complete tender submissions.
- Review tender specifications, eligibility criteria, technical documentation, and commercial requirements.
- Support negotiations during techno-commercial evaluations.
Business Development
- Prepare annual institutional sales plans and project pipelines.
- Identify new government business opportunities across multiple states.
- Conduct market intelligence on competitor activities and upcoming infrastructure projects.
- Build strategic relationships with consultants, architects, PMC firms, EPC companies, and infrastructure developers.
Cross Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Dispatch, Quality, and Production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project deliveries and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve commercial and operational issues related to institutional customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or Commerce.
- MBA (Marketing) will be preferred.
Required Skills
- 6–15 years of relevant experience in Institutional Sales and Government Project Sales.
- Mandatory experience in Steel, TMT Bars, Structural Steel, Building Materials, Cement, Construction Materials, Pipes, Roofing, or similar industries.
- Proven experience handling Government Departments, PSUs, Infrastructure Projects, and Institutional Customers.
- Experience in product approval, vendor registration, and government enlistment is essential.
- Strong understanding of government procurement policies and tendering procedures.
