We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Project Manager who can take ownership of automation projects from project initiation through successful execution, commissioning, and handover.
Job Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing robotics and industrial automation projects while ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, customer satisfaction, and project profitability.
The ideal candidate should have strong project management skills along with a good understanding of industrial automation, robotics, electrical systems, PLCs, control panels, machine integration, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Plan, organize, and manage automation and robotics projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop project timelines, milestones, resource plans, and execution strategies.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion as per agreed schedules.
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and potential delays and take corrective actions.
- Ensure projects are executed within approved scope, budget, and timelines.
2. Team Coordination
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Controls/PLC, Robotics, Production, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning.
- Allocate project responsibilities and ensure effective utilization of manpower and resources.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and track action items.
- Resolve interdepartmental issues and ensure smooth project execution.
3. Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers during project execution.
- Understand customer requirements and ensure project deliverables meet agreed specifications.
- Conduct regular project status updates with customers and internal management.
- Coordinate customer visits, inspections, FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
- Manage customer expectations and resolve project-related concerns professionally.
4. Project Monitoring & Control
- Track project progress against planned schedules and milestones.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and resource utilization.
- Prepare project status reports and management dashboards.
- Maintain project documentation, schedules, MOMs, action trackers, and project records.
- Identify deviations in scope, cost, quality, or schedule and implement corrective measures.
5. Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure designs and technical solutions are aligned with project requirements.
- Review project requirements, layouts, technical specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate integration of robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, control panels, and other automation systems.
- Support technical teams in resolving project execution and commissioning challenges.
- Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer during project handover.
6. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with Procurement and Stores teams to ensure timely availability of project materials.
- Track critical components and long-lead items.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for timely delivery and execution.
- Escalate material shortages or procurement delays that may impact project timelines.
7. Installation & Commissioning
- Plan and coordinate site installation, integration, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate site manpower, subcontractors, customer teams, and internal engineering teams.
- Ensure safety, quality, and project execution standards are followed at customer sites.
- Monitor project punch points and ensure timely closure.
- Ensure successful project handover and obtain customer acceptance/sign-off.
8. Project Closure
- Ensure all project deliverables are completed before project closure.
- Coordinate final documentation, drawings, manuals, and reports.
- Ensure all customer punch points are closed.
- Support final billing, payment follow-up, and commercial closure.
- Conduct project review meetings to capture lessons learned and improvement areas.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, robotics, machine automation, system integration, or manufacturing projects.
- Strong project planning and execution skills.
- Good understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, electrical systems, control panels, and industrial automation.
- Experience in managing turnkey automation projects will be preferred.
- Strong communication and customer management skills.
- Good knowledge of project scheduling, resource planning, and project cost control.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, or other project management tools.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and project locations as required.
