About the Role:
We are expanding our project delivery capabilities at SAFAA Group of Companies and are looking to onboard an experienced MEP professional for a key leadership role within our Project Management function.
This position will support the execution of a large-scale shopping mall development, with a strong focus on electrical infrastructure, utilities coordination, and integrated MEP delivery, ensuring timely execution, statutory compliance, and seamless handover of retail units to tenants.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Systems Leadership (Core Focus)
- Lead execution of HT/LT systems, including substations, transformers, RMU, DG sets, synchronization panels, UPS systems, bus ducts, and lighting systems
- Ensure accurate load calculations and demand planning aligned with mall operations
- Review and approve electrical shop drawings and BOQs
- Oversee earthing and lightning protection systems
Utilities & External Interface Management
- Coordinate with statutory authorities (e.g., TANGEDCO and local bodies) for power approvals and energization
- Manage HT applications, transformer yard readiness, metering, and transition from temporary to permanent power
- Liaise for water supply, sewer connections, STP/WTP integration, and DG diesel storage approvals
MEP Systems Integration
- Oversee coordination across HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing, drainage, and ELV systems (CCTV, BMS, PA, access control)
- Ensure clash-free integration of all services across disciplines
Tenant Handover & Fit-Out Coordination
- Define and implement Tenant Design Guidelines (TDG)
- Manage handover of bare shell / warm shell units
- Coordinate power allocation, metering, and utility connections for each retail unit
- Review and approve tenant MEP drawings, load requirements, and fit-out proposals
- Ensure compliance with mall standards and fire & safety regulations
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Plan and execute electrical testing, DG trials, lighting verification, and integrated MEP commissioning
- Conduct trial runs for mall operations readiness
- Lead preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and asset registers
Statutory Compliance & Approvals
- Ensure compliance with CMDA, Fire Department NOC, and Electrical Inspectorate requirements
- Coordinate inspections and closure of statutory observations
Planning, Cost & Contract Management
- Track MEP progress against schedule and manage delivery timelines
- Review contractor bills, variations, and support value engineering initiatives
- Manage procurement timelines for long-lead electrical items
Team & Stakeholder Coordination
- Lead coordination between MEP consultants, contractors, architects, and mall operations team
- Conduct weekly progress reviews, coordination meetings, and issue resolution workshops
Key Deliverables:
- Fully energized mall with stable HT/LT systems
- Commissioned DG backup and electrical infrastructure
- Operational lighting, ventilation, and safety systems
- Retail units handed over with utilities ready
- All statutory approvals and compliance achieved
- Zero major MEP snags at mall opening
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10–15 years of experience in MEP project delivery, with strong focus on electrical systems
- Proven experience in commercial / mall / mixed-use developments
- Strong expertise in HT/LT systems, DG synchronization, and electrical load management
- Working knowledge of HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing, and ELV/BMS systems
- Experience in tenant fit-out coordination and utilities handover
- Strong understanding of statutory approvals and authority coordination
- Excellent stakeholder management and execution capabilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Relevant certifications (preferred)
