JOB DESCRIPTION
Position : Project Engineer – CMC
Department : Construction Management & Project Management Consultancy (CMC/PMC)
Location- Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Reporting To : Project Manager – CMC / CMC Head
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in construction supervision, PMC, project coordination, quality monitoring, or site management.
- Experience in industrial, commercial, healthcare, institutional, residential, or infrastructure projects preferred.
Job Purpose
To assist in the planning, monitoring, coordination, and execution of construction projects on behalf of the Client/PMC. The role involves monitoring project progress, quality, safety, contractor performance, documentation, and compliance with project specifications, contractual requirements, and approved schedules.
Key Responsibilities
A. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of project schedules for Civil, Architectural, Structural, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and allied works.
- Track project progress against approved schedules and highlight delays, risks, and bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Support preparation of recovery plans and corrective actions for delayed activities.
B. Contract & Execution Monitoring
- Study contract documents, tender conditions, specifications, drawings, and agreement clauses.
- Monitor execution activities to ensure compliance with approved contract documents.
- Verify that contractor activities are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Assist in monitoring contractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
C. Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Monitor quality of construction activities and workmanship on site.
- Ensure implementation of approved Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
- Verify compliance of materials and workmanship with approved specifications.
- Assist in identifying quality deviations and follow up on corrective actions.
- Prepare and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure closure of observations.
- Participate in inspections, testing, and quality audits as required.
D. Safety Monitoring
- Monitor implementation of approved safety procedures and site safety requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors and safety personnel to ensure safe working practices.
- Report unsafe conditions and follow up on corrective measures.
- Support implementation of statutory safety requirements and company safety standards.
- Promote safety awareness among site personnel and contractors.
E. Technical Coordination & Material Monitoring
- Review contractor methodologies, method statements, and execution procedures.
- Monitor implementation of approved methodologies during construction.
- Follow up for submission of material samples, shop drawings, technical submittals, and method statements.
- Coordinate review and approval of submissions with consultants and project stakeholders.
- Monitor procurement schedules and material delivery timelines.
- Ensure only approved materials are used at site.
F. Cost Monitoring & Commercial Support
- Monitor project progress against approved budgets and cost plans.
- Support preparation of project cost reports and progress assessments.
- Assist in updating billing forecasts based on actual site progress.
- Coordinate with project teams for quantity verification and progress certification.
- Support evaluation of variations, additional works, and change requests.
G. Project Documentation & Administration
- Arrange and participate in project review meetings, coordination meetings, and site progress meetings.
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Submit project reports to clients, contractors, consultants, and Head Office as required.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and coordinate timely responses.
- Prepare official correspondence, site instructions, meeting minutes, and project records.
- Maintain registers, logs, approvals, and project documentation.
- Assist in monitoring and controlling project change management processes.
H. Project Completion & Handover
- Assist in project close-out activities, testing, and commissioning.
- Monitor snag identification, tracking, and closure.
- Coordinate collection of as-built drawings, manuals, certificates, warranties, and project records.
- Support final inspections and handover activities.
- Ensure successful completion and handover of projects to the satisfaction of the client.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Additional certifications in Construction Management, Quality Management, or Project Management will be an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office Suite, and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of MS Project and project scheduling software preferred.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Understanding of construction methodologies, quality control procedures, and safety requirements.
- Knowledge of project reporting, documentation, and change management processes.
- Familiarity with statutory approvals and regulatory compliance requirements.
