Role Overview
The Director – Projects will be a custodian of design excellence and a driver of transformative project delivery. This role goes beyond execution—shaping meaningful built environments that respond to changing human experiences. The individual will integrate design thinking, technical rigor, and business insight to deliver projects that are contextually relevant, future-ready, scalable and commercially successful.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design-Led Project Leadership
- Lead projects as design narratives, not just deliverables-ensuring each outcome reflects a strong conceptual foundation and contextual sensitivity
- Drive end-to-end ownership from ideation to execution while balancing creativity with feasibility
- Embed innovation and differentiated thinking across all project stages
2. Technical Excellence & Design Integrity
- Uphold the highest standards of architectural detailing, documentation, and constructability
- Ensure all designs are technically sound, compliant with regulations, and aligned with sustainability principles
- Act as a design reviewer and quality gatekeeper to maintain consistency across projects
3. Client Partnership & Experience Design
- Position as a trusted advisor to clients-co-creating solutions rather than merely responding to briefs
- Translate client aspirations into thoughtful, human-centric design outcomes
- Elevate client experience through proactive communication, transparency, and delivery excellence
4. Team Leadership & Creative Culture Building
- Lead and mentor a team of 8-10 architects/designers, fostering a culture of curiosity, ownership, and collaboration
- Encourage interdisciplinary thinking and continuous learning
- Build future leaders by nurturing both design capability and professional maturity
5. Integrated Collaboration & Ecosystem Alignment
- Drive seamless collaboration across internal teams, consultants, and execution partners
- Ensure alignment between design intent and on-ground execution
- Resolve complexities with agility while maintaining design vision
6. Strategic & Business Contribution
- Contribute to the firm’s growth through participation in pitches, design competitions, and strategic client engagements
- Balance creativity with commercial awareness-ensuring projects are profitable and scalable
- Strengthen internal processes, knowledge systems, and design frameworks
7. Financial Oversight & Commercial Performance
- Ensure financial health and profitability of the project portfolio
- Monitor project budgets, billing schedules, and cash flow (including forecasting receipts)
- Track project efficiency, profitability, and cost performance against targets
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising design quality
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong design philosophy with the ability to translate ideas into impactful spaces
- Deep technical expertise in architecture design and detailing
- High proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, InDesign, Revit, BIM, SketchUp, Rhino, Grasshopper etc.
- Knowledge of visual programming languages and environment widely used for parametric modelling, algorithmic design, and generative design, allowing designers to create complex, data-driven forms rather than manual, hand-modelled geometry.
- High client empathy and relationship-building capability
- Leadership presence with the ability to inspire and align teams
- Strategic thinking with business and financial awareness
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in architecture (B.Arch/M.Arch)
