Role DescriptionAs a Project Design Manager, you will lead a team of engineering experts to deliver a diverse range of clean water (potable) infrastructure and treatment projects. You will be at the forefront of design management, innovation, and project execution, ensuring value-driven, sustainable solutions aligned with Anglian Water’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the engineering design delivery across a portfolio of clean water infrastructure projects
- Develop and manage detailed engineering project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resources
- Ensure high-quality design outputs by implementing best-practice methodologies and standards
- Coordinate effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders for seamless project integration
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimisation, efficiency, and value enhancement
- Promote sustainable, low-carbon, and environmentally responsible design solutions
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health, safety, and industry standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process)
- Drive digital innovation and continuous improvement in design and project delivery
Requirements- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive experience in the water sector, particularly in water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects
- Proven track record in project and design management of complex engineering projects
- Strong technical knowledge of water/wastewater networks and pipeline design
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment plants
- Strong understanding of treatment processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in relevant engineering design tools and software
- Ability to carry out process calculations and prepare technical documentation and layouts
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
