Role Description The Project Associate will support the planning, coordination, and execution of research or institutional projects in collaboration with faculty and project leads. This full-time, on-site role is based at NIT Rourkela in India and involves managing project activities, timelines, and documentation to ensure smooth project progress. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in data collection and analysis, preparing reports and presentations, and maintaining project records. The Project Associate will communicate with internal and external stakeholders, support project meetings, and track milestones and deliverables. The role may also involve contributing to training sessions, workshops, and outreach activities related to the assigned project.
The selected candidate will work on a research project focused on understanding Rhizoctonia solani effectors and metabolite-mediated immune priming for enhancing durable resistance in rice.
The project involves molecular, biochemical and plant pathology approaches for developing innovative vaccination-based disease management strategies.
The candidate will be involved in:
• Identification and characterization of fungal effectors and metabolites
• Rice immune response analysis and resistance screening
• Molecular and biochemical experimentation
• Data analysis, report preparation and manuscript writing
• Coordination of greenhouse and laboratory experiments
Candidates may enroll for Ph.D. at NIT Rourkela subject to fulfillment of all the eligibility criteria.
Qualifications
M.Sc./M.Tech. in Botany / Plant Science / Plant Biotechnology / Plant Pathology / Agricultural Biotechnology / Allied Plant Science disciplines with 60% marks or 6.50 CGPA in 10 point scale. Candidates awaiting results will also be considered. The candidate should have a NET or a valid GATE qualification.

- Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Research skills, including literature review, data collection, basic statistical understanding, and report preparation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Prior experience in academic, research, or project-based environments is an advantage.
