Job Title - Project Assistant - Microbial and Biogas Research (Contract Role)
No. of Positions - (01)
Educational Qualification - M.Sc/ M.Tech in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Environmental, Agricultural or Industrial Biotechnology or related field.
Work Experience - 0-2 years of relevant experience in fermentation or microbial culture.
Job Responsibilities
A. Experimental & Analytical Work:
· Assist in fermentation and anaerobic digestion experiments.
· Prepare and analyze samples for nutrient profiling, elemental composition, and fertilizer quality assessment.
· Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as UV-Vis, AAS, GC (FID/TCD), FTIR, CHNS, OES, and flame photometer.
B. Microbial and Lab Workflows:
· Support microbial workflows including culture preparation, handling, and documentation under supervision.
· Follow validated SOPs to ensure procedural accuracy and quality compliance.
C. Documentation & Coordination
· Maintain detailed lab records, prepare internal reports, and assist in data analysis.
· Coordinate with allied departments such as Fermentation Chemistry, Nitrogen Facility, and Fertilizer Testing.
D. Compliance & Safety:
· Ensure lab safety, equipment hygiene, and readiness for audits as per regulatory standards.
Software Knowledge - Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and data analysis; familiarity with LIMS or equivalent systems is an advantage.
Key Skills/Competencies
· Basic microbiological techniques: culturing, documentation, sample handling
· Proficiency in analytical instrumentation and sample preparation workflows
· Strong understanding of nutrient profiling and elemental analysis
· Ability to follow SOPs and maintain consistency in testing procedures
· Accurate data recording and internal reporting skills
· Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication
· Familiarity with fermentation processes and anaerobic digestion principles
· Commitment to lab safety, equipment maintenance, and audit-readiness
· Attention to detail and reliability in experimental execution.
