MEPZ Special Economic Zone, governed by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, is a premier multi-product SEZ. Established in 1984 as an export processing zone, MEPZ oversees SEZs and Export Oriented Units (EOUs) across Tamil Nadu, Andaman, and the Pondicherry region. With a focus on fostering economic growth, the zone supports businesses to thrive and contribute to India's export sector.


Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Program Manager - DEI based in Chennai.


The Program Manager – DEI will be responsible for operationalizing the DEIBi strategy by developing detailed implementation roadmaps aligned with a three-year phased deployment plan. The role involves establishing governance frameworks, institutionalizing annual DEIBi reporting, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring alignment between policy intent and on-ground execution.


The incumbent will play a key role in the design and large-scale implementation of the DEIBi Initiative across Special Economic Zones in the Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Puducherry (TAP Region). This is a high-impact role focused on execution, data-driven governance, stakeholder engagement, and measurable outcomes across 49 SEZs and a workforce of over 600,000.


Qualifications

  • Post Graduate degree in Management / Public Policy / Human Resources / Social Sciences / Development Studies/ Business Administration / Organizational Psychology or related discipline from a Government recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% aggregate marks.
  • Certification or demonstrated experience in DEI / ESG / Organizational Development / Change Management preferred. 


Requisite Skills

  • Strong program and project management capabilities.
  • Experience in implementing DEI / HR / ESG / social impact initiatives.
  • Data-driven decision-making and analytics orientation.
  • Stakeholder engagement at leadership levels.
  • Budget management and financial oversight.
  • High ownership, execution focus, and ability to work in complex institutional environments.
  • Result-oriented and capable of handling time-bound milestones.


Desirable:

  • Proficiency in English and Tamil (written and spoken).
  • Experience working with government systems or industrial clusters.
  • Familiarity with diversity dimensions in India (gender, caste, disability, religion, sexual orientation, intersectionality)
  • Experience managing awards, recognition platforms, or certification systems.
