The Public EdTech team at ITfC builds participatory models that strengthen teacher agency, school autonomy, and community participation in partnership with public education systems. Our education programs integrate digital technologies for connecting, creating, and collaborating at school, district, and state levels.
Job Profile:
The Program Associate (STEM Education) will work as Faculty or senior Faculty within the STEM team, contributing to program design, digital resource creation, teacher capacity building, and classroom-level implementation. The role requires frequent travel across Karnataka and other states to support teachers and teacher educators in integrating digital technologies into Mathematics and Science teaching.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and facilitate teacher professional development workshops on EdTech integration in Mathematics and Science teaching, including educational software tools, interactive platforms, and digital pedagogies for teachers, teacher educators, and resource persons at district and state levels.
- Lead the development of digital curricular resources in Mathematics and Science – including lesson plans, classroom modules, interactive digital activities, and assessment tools – grounded in inclusive and equitable approaches.
- Conduct regular school visits (with frequent travel across Karnataka and other states) to model, co-teach, and support teachers in integrating new pedagogies and digital resources into their classrooms.
- Lead and nurture subject teacher networks in Mathematics and Science within districts and across the state of Karnataka and other Indian states, enabling peer learning and resource sharing.
- Plan and facilitate learning-sharing events, webinars, and peer-learning platforms independently for STEM teacher communities.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of teacher education sessions at B.Ed. colleges and universities, focusing on STEM pedagogy, digital resource creation, and broader teacher professional development.
- Lead exploration of emerging digital technologies (e.g., simulations, data tools, interactive whiteboard content, FOSS/OER platforms) for Mathematics and Science teaching.
- Assist in program documentation, reporting to funders, and preparation of concept notes and proposals for new and ongoing program components.
- Participate in research, monitoring, and evaluation activities: needs assessments, baseline and end line studies, classroom observations, data collection, and learning documentation.
Depending on experience and interest, the role may also involve contributing to academic writing and publications, supporting cross-state program coordination, or contributing to projects across domains.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field with relevant experience in STEM education.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in teaching (higher primary or high school – Mathematics or Science), teacher education, curriculum development, or educational program implementation.
- Prior experience working in or with government schools, DIETs, or education-focused organisations.
- Familiarity with:
◦ Digital tools for STEM teaching (e.g., simulations, data visualisation, FOSS/OER platforms)
◦ Teacher professional development models
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong competence in teaching Mathematics and/or Science at the higher primary or high school level.
- Fluency in English (oral & written) is essential. Proficiency in Kannada is mandatory. Hindi or other Indian languages are an added advantage.
- Comfort with using digital tools and technology in educational settings; willingness to learn new platforms and processes.
- Ability to work independently in the field as well as collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Karnataka and other states for school visits, training programs, and network meetings.
- Deep understanding of and interest in education and Indian social contexts. Familiarity with the government school system and state educational policies.
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across diverse stakeholder groups: teachers, DIET faculty, government officials, and partner organisations.
- Adaptiveness and flexibility to work across different projects and teams as per organisational need.
Note:
- The place of work will be Bengaluru, with occasional travel across Karnataka and India.
- Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and would not be a constraint for the right candidate.
- The role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of STEM education and public school reform, with scope for immense professional growth and job satisfaction.
