About the role

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Safety Program Coordinator is a field-forward, coast-to-coast safety role responsible for keeping ProBLD's job sites safe, our subcontractors compliant, and our internal teams trained and informed. This individual will spend approximately 50% of scheduled work time in the field, conducting subcontractor safety audits, attending builder construction manager meetings, and delivering hands-on training directly to field crews. The remaining time is dedicated to developing and refining training programs, interpreting safety data and trends, and ensuring accurate documentation across all platforms.

This role works in close coordination with Sr. Area Managers and the Director of Construction and requires multiple overnight trips per month to support branch locations across all active markets. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required, as a significant portion of subcontracted labor is Spanish-speaking.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Safety & Audit Execution

Spend approximately 50% of scheduled work time in the field, driving to assigned job sites across all active markets to conduct safety audits of subcontracted crews

Conduct structured subcontractor safety audits on active job sites; document findings including pass/fail status, observed hazards, violations, and required corrective actions

Meet in the field with builder construction managers (CMs) to discuss safety issues, review audit findings, and communicate abatement plans; document all meetings same-day in the safety management system

Issue safety warnings and document safety-related back charges to subcontractors in accordance with company policy; submit to the Director of Construction for review and processing

Deliver Toolbox Talks to subcontracted crews on a defined schedule; document attendance and topics covered

Travel to branch locations multiple times per month, including overnight travel, to support field safety activities

Training Development & Delivery

Develop, build, and maintain safety training programs and materials for both in-house employees and subcontracted labor, including new hire orientation safety modules, PPE, fall protection, hazard communication, and trade-specific content

Interpret safety audit data and incident trends to identify training gaps; build and update training content in direct response to field-identified deficiencies

Deliver safety training to in-house employees and subcontractors at the branch level on a defined schedule; document attendance and track completion in the safety management system

Partner with Sr. Area Managers and the Director of Construction to align training priorities with current field trends and performance data

Assist in translating training materials and field communications into Spanish where applicable

Data, Reporting & Documentation

Analyze subcontractor audit results, safety warning trends, back charge patterns, and training completion rates to identify systemic issues and inform program improvements

Report audit results, subcontractor pass/fail rates, safety warnings, and back charges to the Director of Construction on a defined schedule

Review and audit safety inspection entries recorded in Microsoft Dynamics by branch-level employees; verify accuracy and completeness, flag errors, and follow up to confirm corrections

Report patterns of incomplete or inaccurate safety documentation to the Director of Construction for corrective action

Maintain accurate, timely records of all audits, field meetings, warnings, and training activities in the safety management system with zero missing entries

Communicate safety deficiencies and subcontractor trends to the Director of Construction and Sr. Area Managers for corrective action plan issuance

Review, validate, and enter all builder-issued safety warnings and back charges into Microsoft Dynamics; ensure all entries are accurate, complete, and submitted within 24 hours of receipt

Review and approve weekly payroll adjustments for subcontractors with assessed safety fines and back charges; verify amounts against documented violations prior to approval

COMPETENCIES & AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, impactful safety messaging to field crews, subcontractors, and internal leadership

Demonstrated experience designing and delivering safety training for diverse audiences, including non-English-speaking workforces

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret safety data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable training and field improvements

High level of personal organization and self-direction; able to manage a multi-market field schedule without direct daily oversight

Experience working in high-volume residential construction environments

Ability to build collaborative working relationships with field leadership, builder partners, and subcontractor crews

Ability to manage sensitive employee information with confidentiality and professionalism

Ability to lift and carry at least 30 pounds

Daily and overnight travel required; multiple trips per month across all active markets

    Previous construction experience required

    Bachelor’s degree preferred

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In this role, success means more than completing audits on a schedule. A high-performing Safety Program Coordinator is a field presence that subcontractors recognize and respect, a trainer who builds programs that actually change behavior, and a data interpreter who connects what is happening on job sites to what needs to happen in the classroom. You will know you are succeeding when your audit findings are driving training updates, your training completions are documented without prompting, and the Director of Construction can pull a complete, accurate picture of field safety performance at any time.
