Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking to appoint a professor to serve as both a senior academic and Head of the Business Management discipline at the University of Aberdeen’s Mumbai campus.
As academic line manager, the post-holder will lead the discipline, join the School Executive Group, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Business Management education. The primary focus is on delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, mentoring early-career staff, and driving curriculum development. The role also involves strengthening industry engagement, expanding transnational education opportunities, and contributing to the research strategy in collaboration with relevant School leads. Supported by Directors of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs, the appointee will teach across the curriculum and may contribute to related programmes in Finance, International Business, and other interdisciplinary areas.
Provide academic and strategic leadership for the Department of Business Management, including staff line management, performance evaluation, and contribution to university-wide strategic planning.
Lead the design, delivery, assessment, and ongoing development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, ensuring academic rigour, relevance, and alignment with employability, recruitment, and internationalisation goals.
Manage the organisation and day-to-day delivery of courses, maintaining distinctive and attractive content for students and employers, and producing necessary course documentation.
Develop and implement innovative teaching, learning, assessment, and feedback practices, ensuring all teaching is informed by current research and scholarship.
Oversee student assessment including coursework, examinations, projects, and dissertations, providing academic guidance and maintaining high standards.
Promote pedagogical innovation and share best practices within the department, while pursuing a sustained research programme aligned with departmental goals.
Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory quality assurance standards and participate in quality enhancement activities.
Engage in ongoing professional development and operate within effective governance frameworks, adhering to relevant policies including Data Protection and Health and Safety.
Candidate Background
Ph.D. in Business Management, Management Studies, or a closely related field, with significant years of academic and/or industry experience, including substantial contributions to teaching, curriculum development, and leadership.
Demonstrated excellence in designing and delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Proven track record in academic leadership, including staff mentoring, performance management, and strategic planning.
Strong background in curriculum development and programme design, ensuring alignment with academic, industry, and global standards.
Actively engaged in pedagogical research or professional networks, with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
