Job Title: Production Manager – Shop Floor
Location: Shahapur, Maharashtra
Reporting To: Plant Head / Operations Manager
Objective of the Role:
The Production Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the production process on the shop floor, ensuring efficiency, adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and timely delivery of finished goods. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive production targets, manage a team of supervisors, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Execution
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules in alignment with sales forecasts and inventory targets.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules, monitor output, and make adjustments to achieve production targets.
- Coordinate with departments such as quality, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure seamless production processes.
- Shop Floor Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations on the shop floor, ensuring production efficiency and managing workflow.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet production goals and minimize downtime.
- Resolve any production-related issues promptly to avoid disruptions.
- Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise and mentor a team of supervisors, machine operators, and production staff.
- Conduct regular training and development programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Monitor performance, provide constructive feedback, and foster a collaborative working environment. Team bonding & training.
- Quality Control and Assurance
- Implement quality standards and practices across the production process to meet customer expectations.
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Lead initiatives to reduce defects, improve first-pass yield, and maintain product consistency.
- Process Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by implementing Lean and Six Sigma practices.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to increase productivity and optimize production processes.
- Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and production efficiency.
- Safety and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular safety training, drills, and audits on the shop floor.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local government regulations related to labour and workplace safety.
- Inventory and Resource Management
- Monitor usage of raw materials, tools, and equipment, and coordinate with the procurement team for timely replenishment.
- Minimize wastage and oversee inventory control on the shop floor.
- Manage machine and equipment maintenance schedules with the Maintenance team to avoid breakdowns.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management, detailing productivity, quality, and resource utilization.
- Maintain accurate records for production logs, employee attendance, and performance metrics.
- Analyse production data and generate insights to guide decision-making and process improvements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Production Efficiency – Percentage of scheduled production achieved
- Quality Metrics – Rate of defects, rework, and first-pass yield
- Safety Compliance – Number of incidents or safety violations
- Downtime Management – Reduction in machine downtime
- Employee Productivity – Output per supervisor/operator
- Cost Control – Material and resource utilization efficiency
- 5S - Maintaining on shop floor.
