JOB DESCRIPTION: PRODUCTION HEAD/MANAGER

Role Summary
A client of Nuno Consulting is scaling its industrial manufacturing operations. They are transitioning from a lean core setup to a high-throughput, structured assembly ecosystem. They are looking for an experienced, hands-on Production Manager/Head to take complete ownership of our manufacturing unit.
As the Production Manager, you will bridge the gap between engineering design and floor execution. You will be responsible for translating blueprints into high-performance industrial products on time, within budget, and to exact quality standards. You will directly manage our shop floor team—including our Lead Technician and a growing pool of production helpers—while collaborating closely with Design, Procurement, and Quality Control (QC).

Key Responsibilities
1. Shop Floor Leadership & Execution
- Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing, fabrication, welding, and assembly of industrial products..
- Team Management: Directly supervise, mentor, and schedule the daily tasks of the Lead Technician and the production helpers.
- Resource Optimization: Cross-train helpers and technicians across multiple assembly cells to maintain agility and eliminate floor bottlenecks.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict shop-floor safety protocols, proper PPE usage, and clean workplace (5S) standards. Ensure compliance with basic factory safety regulations.
2. Production Planning & SCM Alignment
- Production Scheduling: Build and execute weekly/monthly production schedules based on the client order pipeline and delivery commitments.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) Tracking: Work closely with the Procurement team to ensure raw materials (motors, steel sheets, casting components, fasteners) are available before production runs begin, minimizing idle time.
- Inventory Control: Monitor shop-floor material consumption to minimize scrap, prevent inventory leakage, and control production costs.
3. Cross-Functional Engineering Quality
- Design-to-Floor Integration: Collaborate with the Design Engineer to review manufacturing drawings, ensuring they are optimized for practical, cost-effective fabrication.
- Quality Synchronization: Partner with the QC Engineer to establish standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure that parts are inspected at critical milestones (e.g., dynamic balancing, welding checks) rather than just at final assembly.
- Rework Reduction: Deep-dive into any component defects or assembly failures to implement immediate corrective actions on the floor.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Your success in this role will be measured by:
- Production Throughput: Meeting or exceeding monthly product/equipment delivery targets according to schedule.
- Defect & Rework Rate: Reducing manufacturing errors and material scrap by implementing strict process discipline.
- Floor Utilization & Capacity: Maximizing machine and labor efficiency while minimizing overtime costs.
- Safety Record: Maintaining a zero-accident, fully compliant shop floor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Requires a minimum of 5-8 years of floor-level expertise within a heavy industrial setting, specifically focused on industrial products/equipment production or comparable mechanical fabrication sectors.
- Core Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending, sheet metal forming, and welding certifications).
- Familiarity with assembly sequences, motor integration, and mechanical balancing.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Leadership Style: A "get-your-hands-dirty" leader who spends more time on the shop floor than behind a desk. Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate blue-collar workforces.
- Tools: Proficiency in basic MS Excel/Office for tracking production logs. Familiarity with basic ERP or inventory management systems is a major plus.
