Production Head – Packaging Manufacturing Plant.
Reporting To Operations Head .
Job Location: Pune.
Team Size
Direct Reports: 8
Total Team Managed: Approx. 200 employees (operators, supervisors, engineers, contract
manpower)
Role Purpose:
The Production Head will be responsible for leading end-to-end manufacturing operations of the
packaging plant, ensuring achievement of production targets, quality standards, delivery commitments, productivity improvement, cost optimization, safety compliance, and people management across multiple manufacturing functions including Printing, Lamination, Die Cutting, Folding & Gluing, Liquid Packaging, and Finishing Operations.
The role requires strong exposure to carton packaging / flexible packaging / liquid packaging operations with expertise in high-speed manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Operations Management
Lead complete plant production operations across:
o Printing
o Lamination
o Die Cutting
o Folding & Gluing
o Liquid Packaging
o Finishing & Dispatch Coordination
Ensure achievement of daily/monthly production plans.
Drive machine utilization, capacity optimization, and throughput improvement.
Monitor production KPIs including:
o OEE
o Productivity
o Waste/Scrap
o Downtime
o RM Yield
o On-Time Delivery
Ensure smooth shift operations and manpower deployment.
2. Team Leadership & People Management
Lead a team of approximately 200 employees including operators, engineers, supervisors, and
contract manpower.
Directly manage department heads/managers for:
1. Printing
2. Lamination
3. Die Cutting
4. Folding & Gluing
5. Liquid Packaging
6. Production Planning Coordination
7. Shift Operations
8. Process Excellence / Production MIS
Build accountability and high-performance culture on shopfloor.
Drive training, skill enhancement, succession planning, and team development.
Handle manpower planning and industrial relations in coordination with HR.
3. Productivity & Continuous Improvement
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Drive reduction in:
o Setup time
o Rejections
o Wastage
o Machine breakdown losses
Improve operational efficiency and conversion cost.
Lead root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
4. Quality & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to customer quality standards and internal SOPs.
Coordinate closely with QA/QC teams for:
o GMP
o ISO
o BRC/food safety standards
o Customer audits
Ensure rejection control and customer complaint reduction.
5. Maintenance & Engineering Coordination
Work closely with Maintenance team to ensure:
o Preventive maintenance adherence
o Breakdown reduction
o Machine reliability improvement
Support new machine installation, commissioning, and process stabilization.
6. Production Planning & Delivery:
Coordinate with PPC and SCM for production scheduling and dispatch adherence.
Ensure customer delivery timelines are met without compromising quality.
Manage bottlenecks and capacity constraints proactively.
7. Safety & EHS
Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and EHS norms.
Drive zero-accident culture across manufacturing operations.
Ensure statutory compliance related to manufacturing operations.

Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Printing / Production / Industrial Engineering
MBA Operations preferred
Experience:
12–20 years in packaging manufacturing industry
Strong experience in:
o Folding carton packaging
o Mono cartons
o Liquid packaging
o FMCG/pharma packaging
Minimum 5+ years in leadership role managing large manufacturing teams.
