Production Engineer / Production Executive (LV & MV Switchgear)

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Production Engineer / Executive to manage and streamline manufacturing activities for Low Voltage (LV) & Medium Voltage (MV) electrical products. In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end production of RMUs, VCB Panels, Compact Substations (CSS), LT/HT Panels, Control Panels, and FRTU systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for production planning, assembly coordination, quality compliance, and effective manpower handling to meet production targets safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning & Execution
- Execute daily shop-floor activities in alignment with the master production schedule.
- Ensure timely and high-quality manufacturing of RMU Panels, VCB Panels, Compact Substations (CSS), LT/HT Panels, Metering & Control Panels, and FRTU Panels.
- Monitor productivity, track material availability, and maintain an optimized workflow on the shop floor to achieve targets within deadlines.
2. Shop Floor & Manpower Management
- Supervise assembly, structure fitment, busbar fabrication, wiring, testing, and final dispatch activities.
- Allocate manpower effectively across various stages of production to maximize output.
- Ensure optimal utilization and maintenance of machines, tools, and plant equipment.
- Maintain workplace discipline and a smooth operational workflow.
3. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Design & Engineering, Quality Assurance, Stores & Procurement, and Testing teams to resolve technical queries or material shortages promptly.
4. Quality Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all manufacturing processes strictly comply with IEC standards, approved GA/schematic drawings, and internal quality procedures.
- Actively work toward minimizing production defects, rejections, and rework.
- Maintain proper documentation, including daily production reports (DPR), work order tracking, and ERP/MIS system updates.
5. Safety & 5S Implementation
- Enforce safety protocols, ensure 100% compliance with PPE usage, and drive daily 5S and housekeeping standards on the shop floor.
Job Requirements & QualificationsEducation
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Production Executive: 2 to 5 years of experience in electrical panel or switchgear manufacturing.
- Senior Production Engineer: 5 to 12 years of core experience specializing in RMU manufacturing, VCB assembly, CSS fabrication, and HT/LT panel production.
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of electrical panel assembly, busbar systems, control wiring, and basic testing procedures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting General Arrangement (GA) drawings, schematic diagrams, wiring layouts, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Familiarity with IEC standards and ERP/MRP software is highly preferred.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience handling a shop-floor workforce.
- Excellent problem-solving attitude and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and consistently meet delivery deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Daily and monthly production target achievement.
- Reduction in rejection rates and production rework.
- On-time delivery performance (OTD).
- Manpower utilization and shop floor safety compliance.
