Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Production Planning & Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will review engineering drawings, prepare Bills of Materials (BOM), streamline production schedules, coordinate material procurement, and ensure the smooth execution of manufacturing projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing Review & BOM Preparation: Review customer drawings and manufacturing specifications to prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for production.
- Material Coordination: Identify requirements for raw materials, bought-out items, and consumables; coordinate closely with the Purchase department to ensure timely procurement.
- Production Planning: Develop production plans, monitor daily manufacturing schedules, release jobs to the shop floor, and track overall progress.
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Coordinate with fabrication, machining, welding, painting, and dispatch teams to maintain workflow.
- Quality & Inventory Control: Ensure all drawings and revisions are updated before production starts. Monitor inventory requirements with stores and follow up with external vendors for outsourced processes.
- Process Improvement: Assist in improving manufacturing efficiency and reducing material wastage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 2–5 years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production planning. Freshers with excellent technical knowledge and a strong learning ability are also welcome to apply.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and BOM preparation.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or mechanical design software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, etc.) is a major advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Prior experience in heavy fabrication or transformer component manufacturing.
- Ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and excellent follow-up skills.
