Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Production Chemist role based at Celaxis Bioscience’s manufacturing facility in Prantij. The Production Chemist is responsible for executing and monitoring fermentation-based API production processes, including preparation of batches, operation of production equipment, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role involves sampling, in-process checks, documentation of production activities, and coordination with quality control and quality assurance teams to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards. The Production Chemist will support troubleshooting of process deviations, participate in process optimization initiatives, and ensure safe handling of chemicals and materials in accordance with EHS guidelines. The position also includes maintaining cleanliness of the production area, contributing to audits and inspections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering, with practical knowledge of fermentation processes and API manufacturing.
- Experience with production-scale equipment operation, process monitoring, and adherence to SOPs in a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environment.
- Understanding of GMP, quality systems, and regulatory compliance related to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate production records, batch documentation, and basic data analysis for process improvement.
- Awareness of safety, health, and environmental (EHS) practices, including safe handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with production, QC, QA, and engineering teams.
- Ability to work in a shift-based, fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline; prior experience in fermentation-based API production is an advantage.
