Employment Type: Full-time
Experience: 2–4 years
About Matter Morph
Matter Morph is a 3D & CGI studio creating high-impact visual experiences for products, brands and spaces. We combine product photography, filmmaking, 3D animation, CGI, motion design and generative AI to create product films, launch campaigns and advertising content.
Matter Morph — Make Reality Move.
About the Role
We are looking for a creative, technically strong Product Photographer & Videographer who understands how to make products look exceptional on camera.
You will plan and execute product photography and video shoots for consumer electronics, lifestyle products, FMCG, beauty, retail and other brand campaigns. Your work will support both standalone productions and hybrid projects that combine live-action footage with CGI, motion graphics and AI-generated visuals.
We are looking for someone who understands more than camera operation. You should have a strong eye for lighting, composition, reflections, textures, movement and visual storytelling—and know how to translate a creative brief into polished, commercial-quality visuals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Photography
- Plan and execute professional product photography shoots for advertising, ecommerce, product launches and brand campaigns.
- Photograph consumer electronics, smartphones, accessories, packaging, lifestyle products and other commercial products.
- Create clean hero shots, detailed macro shots, feature-focused images and artistic compositions.
- Set up studio lighting to highlight product contours, materials, textures, finishes and colours.
- Work confidently with reflective, glossy, metallic, glass and dark surfaces.
- Capture multiple product angles, colour variants and detail shots while maintaining consistent framing and lighting.
- Create images suitable for advertising campaigns, websites, catalogues, social media and print collateral.
- Prepare and organise RAW files for retouching, compositing and post-production.
2. Product Videography & Filmmaking
- Shoot cinematic product videos, commercials, promotional films and social media content.
- Execute product reveals, macro movements, detail sequences, slow-motion shots and tabletop cinematography.
- Plan camera movements, shot sequences and transitions in collaboration with the creative and CGI teams.
- Capture feature demonstrations, product interactions and lifestyle footage where required.
- Work with sliders, gimbals, tripods, turntables, macro setups and other relevant production equipment.
- Understand frame rates, shutter speed, exposure, focus, colour profiles and camera settings for different shooting requirements.
- Execute controlled movements and repeatable shots for CGI integration and visual effects.
- Capture reference footage, lighting references and clean plates for compositing and CGI workflows.
3. Lighting & Studio Setup
- Design lighting setups based on the product, material, desired mood and creative direction.
- Work with softboxes, strip lights, diffusers, reflectors, flags, grids and other light modifiers.
- Control reflections and highlights on glass, metal, glossy plastic and polished surfaces.
- Create dramatic, premium, high-key and low-key lighting setups as required.
- Maintain consistent lighting across product variants and multiple shoot days.
- Manage studio equipment, backgrounds, props and product handling responsibly.
4. Creative Development & Pre-production
- Interpret creative briefs, references, storyboards and mood boards.
- Suggest camera angles, lighting approaches, compositions and shot ideas.
- Assist in planning shot lists, equipment requirements, set layouts and shoot schedules.
- Collaborate with the CGI Lead, 3D Motion Artists, AI Video Artist and editors to plan hybrid production workflows.
- Identify opportunities to combine physical product footage with 3D environments, CGI elements and AI-generated visuals.
5. Post-production & Collaboration
- Perform basic colour correction, exposure adjustments and image selection.
- Work with editors, retouchers and compositors to deliver final campaign assets.
- Organise footage, RAW images, project files and reference materials with clear naming conventions.
- Ensure footage is technically suitable for editing, colour grading, compositing and visual effects.
- Review outputs, implement feedback and maintain quality across final deliverables.
Experience with advanced retouching, colour grading or compositing is an advantage, but specialist post-production support will be available where required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2–4 years of practical experience in product photography, commercial videography or studio filmmaking.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating product photography and product video work.
- Hands-on experience with professional mirrorless or cinema cameras.
- Strong understanding of studio lighting, exposure, composition, lenses and camera movement.
- Experience with macro photography, tabletop setups and close-up product cinematography.
- Ability to photograph and film reflective and challenging product surfaces.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- Understanding of colour management, RAW workflows, frame rates and delivery formats.
- Ability to plan and execute shoots independently, from setup to footage handover.
- Strong attention to detail, visual judgement and consistency.
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary creative and production team.
Experience with Sony Alpha cameras, tethered shooting workflows, motion-control equipment, turntables and CGI/VFX plate capture is a plus.
What We're Looking For
We want someone who can make an ordinary product look extraordinary through lighting, framing, movement and attention to detail.
You should be equally comfortable producing a clean ecommerce product image and executing a dramatic, cinematic shot for a high-end product commercial.
You should understand how small changes in light, reflections, lens choice and camera position can completely change the perception of a product.
This is a creative production role—not event photography, wedding filmmaking or general-purpose social media shooting.
Example Projects You'll Work On
- Cinematic smartphone product films and feature demonstrations.
- Premium product photography for electronics and consumer brands.
- Macro shots highlighting materials, buttons, ports, textures and product finishes.
- Commercial films combining live-action product shots with CGI environments.
- Studio footage and clean plates for compositing and visual effects.
- Product launch campaigns with hero films, social cutdowns and campaign stills.
- Consistent product photography across multiple colours, variants and configurations.
Portfolio Requirements
Applicants must share a portfolio or showreel containing, where possible:
- Product photography with controlled studio lighting.
- Product videos or commercials.
- Macro and detail shots.
- Examples involving reflective or glossy products.
- Behind-the-scenes images or lighting setups demonstrating technical understanding.
- Examples of their personal contribution to collaborative productions.
Please identify the work you personally photographed or filmed, rather than submitting only final campaign work produced by a larger team.
What Success Looks Like
You will be able to take a product shoot from planning to execution, produce technically sound and visually compelling footage, maintain consistency across deliverables and work effectively with our CGI and post-production teams.
Your work should strengthen Matter Morph's ability to produce premium commercial content that combines physical production with CGI and AI.
