Role Summary
The
Product Owner – Education is a tactical product delivery leader who operates at the intersection of
product strategy and engineering execution. This role partners closely with Product Managers to translate strategic objectives into
well‑prioritized epics, features, and user stories that engineering teams can execute with speed and clarity.
You will own the
end‑to‑end product backlog for education platforms, with a primary focus on:
- Classroom management systems
- Campus life and residence management tools
- Academic and student success analytics
This role is critical to ensuring
high‑quality, predictable delivery while respecting the constraints of academic calendars and institutional trust.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Backlog Ownership
- Own and manage the product backlog for education platforms from discovery to delivery
- Translate product strategy and OKRs into prioritized epics, user stories, and tasks
- Ensure backlog readiness following INVEST principles and Definition of Ready (DoR)
User Story & Requirements Definition
- Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria for education‑specific workflows
- Capture requirements for:
- Student engagement and retention
- Academic intervention alerts
- Classroom and lab usage tracking
- Campus‑wide and residence life management
- Leverage AI‑assisted backlog and documentation tools to improve quality and speed
Agile Delivery & Sprint Execution
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews for agile teams
- Partner with engineering to ensure on‑time releases aligned with academic calendars
- Support teams using Scrum, SAFe, or hybrid agile models
Stakeholder & Customer Collaboration
- Gather insights from students, faculty, administrators, and customer success teams
- Convert qualitative feedback and data signals into actionable product improvements
- Act as the primary day‑to‑day product contact for engineering teams
UX, Accessibility & Compliance
- Collaborate with Product Design and UX teams to ensure persona‑based experiences
- Ensure features align with accessibility and compliance standards including:
Data, Analytics & AI Enablement
- Support delivery of AI‑powered features, including:
- Personalized learning recommendations
- Automated academic and usage reporting
- Predictive analytics for student success
- Use data and metrics to validate priorities and measure outcomes
Platform Modernization & Change Management
- Work with internal leaders to modernize legacy education platforms
- Preserve institutional trust and founder‑driven product excellence while evolving technology
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 6–8 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Delivery role
- Proven background in EdTech, higher‑education SaaS, or education‑focused platforms
- Hands‑on experience with products related to:
- Academic analytics
- Student engagement systems
- Campus or residence management tools
Technical & Methodological Skills
- Strong expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
- Certification preferred:
- CSPO
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Advanced capability in user story writing and acceptance criteria definition
- Experience using:
- Jira
- Confluence
- Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted product and backlog management tools
