Backing Services Product Manager
Focus: Cache-aaS, DBaaS, Storage-aaS
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own and develop internal Backing Services products, covering Cache as a Service, Database as a Service, and Storage as a Service.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing technical infrastructure/platform products in engineering-led environments. This is a genuine Product Management role — candidates should demonstrate ownership of product strategy, roadmap, backlog, discovery, delivery, and adoption rather than acting primarily as a Database Architect, Engineer, or technical advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the vision, product proposition, roadmap, and delivery for backing service products.
- Lead 0-to-1 product development from opportunity identification and discovery through launch and adoption, particularly for Database as a Service and Storage as a Service.
- Manage the roadmap for existing Cache-as-a-Service offerings and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Understand developer and engineering requirements and translate them into scalable, easy-to-consume platform services.
- Drive service standardisation, self-service capabilities, automation, onboarding journeys, and operating models.
- Work closely with platform engineering, architecture, security, operations, and internal technology teams.
- Define product value propositions and ensure services are secure, reliable, scalable, supportable, and commercially viable.
- Manage competing stakeholder requirements and prioritise features based on customer value, technical feasibility, scalability, and operational considerations.
- Track product adoption and outcomes and continuously improve the service based on data and stakeholder feedback.
Required Experience
- 9+ years of overall professional experience, with significant experience in Product Management.
- Proven experience as a Product Manager / Technical Product Manager / Platform Product Manager for an internal technology, infrastructure, cloud, or developer product.
- Demonstrable experience owning a product, including roadmap, backlog, prioritisation, stakeholder management, and adoption.
- Experience launching new platform/infrastructure/developer products from concept to adoption.
- Strong background with one or more of:
- Database as a Service (DBaaS)
- Storage as a Service (Storage-aaS)
- Cache as a Service (Cache-aaS)
- Database platforms
- SQL / NoSQL
- Object storage / S3 / Blob storage
- Caching platforms such as Redis or Couchbase
- Experience working in highly technical, engineering-led environments.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear product priorities and outcomes.
