Job details:
Product Manager Location: Malad, Mumbai, Maharashtra
Work Setting: In-Office | 5 Days a Week
Position: Full-Time
About EtherEther builds an integrated suite of products for the K-12 education sector in India, with expansion planned towards higher education and coaching. Our products cover the full institutional lifecycle — from marketing and admissions through academics, finance, and operations — and are designed to work together as a single, connected platform rather than as standalone tools.
What makes the product problem interesting is that our products are deeply interconnected, so decisions in one area ripple through the others. We think about the ecosystem as a whole, not features in isolation — and we hire people who do the same.
We process the personal data of minors at scale, which places us under India's DPDPA regime. Building for trust and compliance is a first-class product responsibility here, not a legal afterthought.
Why this role exists- We are looking for a Product Manager to own a product line or platform domain within the Ether suite end-to-end — its strategy, discovery, roadmap, and outcomes. Because our products are deeply interconnected, both technically and commercially, this is not a single-feature role. You will be accountable for the health of your product and for the boundaries where it meets the rest of the ecosystem.
- You might own a growth area, an operations area, or a platform and trust domain, depending on where your strengths and our needs meet. Your specific mandate will be scoped upon joining.
What you'll ownStrategy & discovery- Set a clear, evidence-based strategy and roadmap for your product area, aligned to our wider product strategy and long-term vision.
- Run rigorous discovery with schools and internal stakeholders. Challenge whether a feature should exist before defining how it works, using Jobs-to-be-Done and problem-severity framing.
- Distinguish the needs of distinct personas — school owner, principal, coordinator, teacher, admissions counsellor, accounts officer, parent, student — and be explicit about which persona a decision optimises for.
Product definition & delivery- Produce clear, publication-ready functional artefacts (PRDs/FRDs) covering problem, goals, scope, business rules, journeys, acceptance criteria, edge cases and risks.
- Reason confidently about how data is owned and shared across the suite: what your product owns versus consumes, and how it connects to the wider platform. Protect the integrity of shared data.
- Partner with engineering and design to deliver, staying at the level of product constraints and expected capabilities rather than dictating implementation.
Ecosystem & commercial- Own the upsell and cross-sell opportunities that touch your product — understand how it connects to the wider suite commercially, and design so that adoption in one area strengthens the whole.
- Contribute to packaging, tiering and pricing decisions for your area.
- Partner with sales, customer success and marketing on go-to-market and enablement.
Trust, compliance & operations- Treat data protection as a product responsibility. Ensure your area meets DPDPA obligations — consent, PII handling, children's data protections, data lifecycle — and pass privacy-by-design review before building.
- Design for operational scale across hundreds of schools: repeatable onboarding, self-service, faster time-to-value, low support dependency.
Measurement- Define the North Star and the leading, lagging, adoption and operational metrics for your product. Instrument, monitor, and use them to drive decisions — not vanity metrics.
What success looks like in the first 12 months- A validated, sequenced roadmap for your area that leadership, engineering and sales share a common mental model of.
- Measurable movement on your product's core outcome metrics (e.g. activation/time-to-value, adoption of key workflows, retention, or upsell attach rate — depending on mandate).
- Clean data-ownership and integration boundaries between your product and the rest of the suite, with no unmanaged duplication of shared data.
- Demonstrable compliance readiness for the surfaces you own.
Must-have qualifications- 4–8 years in product management, with clear ownership of a product's outcomes (not only feature delivery).
- Evidence of ecosystem or platform thinking — you can show a decision where you traded a local optimum for the health of a wider system or shared data model.
- Strong discovery and JTBD instincts; comfortable challenging demand before building.
- Ability to reason about data models and information architecture at a functional level (entities, ownership, relationships, configurability).
- Excellent structured written communication in English.
- Fluency with product analytics: defining metrics and using data to decide.
Nice-to-have- Experience in B2B SaaS, multi-product suites, or platform/ecosystem products.
- Exposure to Indian K-12 or EdTech, or to selling into SMB institutions.
- Familiarity with data-protection regimes (DPDPA, GDPR-style principles), especially children's data.
- Experience with configurable/low-code platforms, flexible data models, or pricing and packaging work.
How you'll work here- You'll be expected to separate facts, assumptions, risks and recommendations; to state assumptions and how to validate them when information is missing; to prefer solving one high-impact problem exceptionally well over many partially; and to challenge ideas respectfully — including ours. Product-first, architecture follows. Simplicity over unnecessary complexity.
What We Offer- A competitive salary and benefits package.
- The opportunity to work on products that have a real impact on the education sector.
- A collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Opportunities for professional growth and development.
