Product Intern — AI-First Product & Client AdoptionCompany: Canvas (canvasx.ai) Location: Remote Experience: 0–2 years (internship, open-ended) Compensation: Competitive stipend + path to full-time

THE SHORT STORYWe're Canvas — a research and R&D lab building AI products. We started the day ChatGPT launched and have shipped more than 15 AI products since.
Right now we're building Sketch — an open-source, self-hosted AI org assistant that lives inside Slack, WhatsApp, and Telegram with 3,000+ integrations. Sketch is our bet on the future of how teams will work with an AI co-worker — not a chatbot you visit, but a teammate that already lives where your work happens.
This role plugs directly into that bet. You'll be the human bridge between the AI co-worker we're building and the humans learning to work with one for the first time.
THE MISSIONYou'll own the entire client side of Sketch — every customer we're onboarding, every adoption signal, every feature we ship. The brief might be one line in Slack ("Acme isn't activating — figure out why"). Your job is to talk to them, figure out what's broken, translate it back into product calls, and test what we ship.
We're a startup, and we need a Product Intern who acts like a founding hire. Someone who can sit with ambiguity, talk to clients without a script, and hold both "what users actually need" and "what we just shipped" in their head at the same time.
If you want a checklist of tasks, this isn't the role. If you want to specialize in one narrow slice, it isn't either.
WHAT YOU'LL DO (THE IMPACT)Own the Client Side: Be the one point of contact for every client we onboard onto Sketch. Drive adoption — not on paper, in the product logs.
Find the Friction: Figure out why clients aren't using what we built. Talk to them. Watch them. Educate them. Hand-hold when you have to. Close the gap between "signed up" and "uses it daily."
Translate Users into Features: Every client conversation is signal. You turn friction, requests, and "I wish it could do X" into clear, well-framed input the engineering team can build from. You're the bridge.
Break Every Feature Before Users Do: When we ship something, you test it end to end. Edge cases. Weird inputs. Real flows. If something's broken, you catch it before a client does.
Make the Call: When a client request is ambiguous or two clients want opposite things, you weigh it, talk to the team, and bring a recommendation. We'll back you.
THE AI FILTERWe're an AI-first company. If you're not using AI tools in 2026 — how do you even run a Google search anymore? Please don't apply.
You don't need to code. You don't need to be an AI power user. You just need to be fluent in Claude — meaning you actually understand:
- How to use Claude Projects
- What Claude Skills are and how they work
- How to think in agentic workflows, not one-shot prompts
If those words are new to you, spend a weekend with them before you apply. If they're already part of how you work — perfect.
WHO YOU AREThe Hustle: You move. You don't wait for instructions. You see a gap, you close it.
The Communication: Sharp, clear, and proactive. Clients shouldn't wonder what you meant. The team shouldn't chase you for context.
The Comfort with Ambiguity: Cold calls with clients you've never met. Hard questions. Sitting with "I don't know" until you figure it out.
The Follow-Through: A client said something three weeks ago? You remember. You followed up. You closed the loop.
The Taste: You notice when a product is bad — at the click, the copy, the empty state. You have opinions about what makes software feel good.
The Curiosity: Genuine interest in what LLMs can actually do (and what they can't). You're excited about the AI co-worker future, not skeptical of it.
WHO YOU'RE NOT- Someone who needs a detailed brief before starting
- Someone who treats "remote" as a license to disappear
- Someone who wants to "learn about startups" instead of run at one
THE SELECTION PROCESS- Application: Fill out the application form.
- The Assignment: Complete the form-based assignment shared with you. Applications without a completed assignment will not be considered.
- Final Interview: A conversation with the team to walk through your assignment, your process, and mutual fit.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN- You're not interning on a side project — you own the client side of a product real companies are paying for.
- Direct line to the CEO and CTO. No middle layers. Your input shapes what we build next.
- Front-row seat to building the future of work — what happens when every team has an AI co-worker living inside Slack, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
- Open-ended runway. If you're great, this becomes whatever role you build into — Product, CS, GTM, founding team.
- Learn the craft of shipping AI products end-to-end, from customer conversation to feature to launch.
