About the Role
We are a technology company building SaaS products in the Atlassian ecosystem. We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented product documentation contractor to own the creation and maintenance of technical documentation across our product portfolio, from user guides and onboarding flows to API references and feature explainers.
This is not a traditional documentation role. We move fast, we ship continuously, and we need someone who can keep up. Someone who takes ownership, writes clearly, and doesn't need to be told twice.
What You'll Do
Documentation:
- Write and maintain product documentation, from user guides, how-to articles and feature explainers to release notes and FAQs
- Document technical concepts clearly for a non-technical audience (team leads, QA managers, admins) as well as developers
- Create onboarding documentation that helps new users get up and running quickly
- Maintain and update documentation sites as new features ship across products
Collaboration:
- Work closely with product teams to understand new features before they ship
- Coordinate with marketing to ensure documentation language is consistent with brand voice
- Flag gaps in documentation coverage proactively; don't wait to be told what's missing
- Manage multiple products simultaneously without dropping quality
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing or product documentation for a SaaS product
- Strong written English – clear, concise, no fluff
- Ability to understand technical concepts quickly and explain them simply
- Experience with documentation platforms (Confluence, GitBook, Notion, Refined, ScrollView, ScrollSite, or similar)
- Familiarity with the Atlassian ecosystem like Jira, Confluence and other Marketplace apps, and other technology Marketplaces
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time across multiple workstreams
Nice to Have
- Experience using AI writing tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Notion AI, or similar) as part of your workflow
- Experience documenting an Atlassian Marketplace app
- Understanding of automation, workflow tools, or API documentation
- Experience with video-based documentation (Loom walkthroughs, annotated screenshots)
How We Work
We are a lean, remote-first team. We move fast, communicate async, and expect contractors to own their work independently. You won't be micromanaged, but you will be expected to deliver consistently and flag blockers early.
