Company Description
ABSODOK Pvt Ltd operates GAM Agri Machines — an established import-export company specializing in combine harvester spare parts and agricultural machinery. We import directly from China factories and supply leading agricultural OEMs and distributors across India. We're now scaling our custom spare parts development vertical and looking for an engineer who wants to OWN a product end-to-end — from spec to supply.
Role Description
You will lead our entire spare parts development pipeline:
→ Define engineering specs (drawings, materials, processes)
→ Coordinate with Chinese factories (casting / forging / precision machining)
→ Manage client communication and technical queries
→ Review samples and ensure quality standards
→ Build a structured spec library for every part
This is primarily an office-based role with occasional field visits (2-4 days/month) to client warehouses and Chennai industrial estates.
🛠 WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Review engineering drawings (2D + 3D CAD) and validate technical specifications
- Define material grades — cast iron (FG200/FG260/SG iron), steel (EN8/EN24/20MnCr5), heat treatment,
surface finish
- Specify the right manufacturing process — sand casting, investment casting, drop forging, precision machining
- Coordinate with Chinese factories for quotations, technical clarifications, and sample approvals
- Manage daily/weekly client follow-ups on order status and technical queries
- Inspect first-article samples — dimensional + material + surface finish
- Maintain quality scorecards for factories and parts library for all SKUs
- Visit client warehouses and Chennai industrial estates (Ambattur / Guindy / Thirumazhisai) as needed
Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
- ✔ B.E./B.Tech Mechanical OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with strong experience
- ✔ Minimum 2 years in any of:
- Product development / NPD in auto components
• Sourcing engineering (OEM or Tier-1)
• Quality engineering with drawing/material expertise
• Foundry / forging / precision machining
• Tool room engineering with material specs
- ✔ Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T basics, material grades, manufacturing processes
- ✔ AutoCAD (must); SolidWorks / Fusion 360 (preferred)
- ✔ Languages: HINDI + TAMIL + ENGLISH (all three required — Hindi mandatory for client + factory coordination)
- ✔ Excellent communication — handles client calls and factory emails independently
- ✔ Willing to work from office in Salem and travel 2-4 days/month
- GOOD TO HAVE:
- ⭐ Experience with agricultural machinery, combine harvester, tractor, or auto component industry
- ⭐ Worked with Chinese suppliers or import sourcing
- ⭐ Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- ⭐ Hands-on with vernier, micrometer, hardness tester
- ⭐ Exposure to ERP / PLM systems
