Job Opportunity: Product Designer (Hardware & Industrial Design)
Location: Invengic Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Research Park – IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Type: Full-time (Trainee → Full Employment pathway)
Stipend: ₹4,000 – ₹8,000/month + Accommodation
Salary Range: ₹18,000 – ₹40,000/month (based on skills & performance)
Role
We are looking for a hands-on Product Designer who can transform ideas into real, functional physical products — not just digital renders.
This role combines industrial design, hardware integration, and prototyping, where you will work closely with engineers to build market-ready products.
You will design products that are not only visually appealing but also practical, manufacturable, and fully functional.
This is a build + design role — ideal for someone who enjoys designing, making, testing, and refining real products.
What You’ll Work On Core Responsibilities (Initial Phase)
Product Design & Development
- Design physical products from concept to working prototype
- Translate ideas into functional designs and real assemblies
3D Design & CAD
- Use tools like SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / Rhino
- Create:
- Enclosures
- Mechanical parts
- Full product assemblies
Prototype Building
- Hands-on work with:
- 3D printing (PLA, ABS, TPU)
- Laser cutting
- Basic fabrication
Hardware Integration
- Design around:
- PCBs
- Sensors
- Motors & internal components
- Ensure:
- Proper fit
- Ventilation
- Cable management
- Assembly feasibility
Material & Finishing
- Select materials based on:
- Strength
- Cost
- Aesthetics
- Work on:
- Surface finishes
- Textures
- Color combinations
Aesthetic + Functional Balance
- Create products that are:
- Visually appealing
- Ergonomic
- Practical to use
Growth Responsibilities (As You Progress)
- Work on DFM (Design for Manufacturing) & DFA
- Design consumer-ready products for manufacturing
- Develop modular product architectures
- Collaborate closely with electronics & robotics teams
- Build brand-consistent product design language
- Prepare designs for:
- Injection molding
- CNC / sheet metal production
- Improve usability through real-world testing & feedback loops
Skills & Qualification Requirements Education (Preferred, not mandatory)
- B.Des (Product / Industrial Design)
- B.Tech (Mechanical / Mechatronics / Robotics)
- OR equivalent hands-on experience
Prototyping Skills (Basic → Advanced)
Basic Level
- Understanding of product structures & assemblies
- Experience with 3D printing (PLA, ABS, TPU)
- Basic CAD modeling
- Simple fabrication & assembly
Intermediate Level
- Functional prototyping with moving parts
- Designing enclosures around PCBs & components
- Knowledge of tolerances, fits, and fastening
- Iterative improvements through testing
Advanced Level (Preferred)
- Complex assemblies with multiple subsystems
- DFM & DFA understanding
- Material selection based on real constraints
- Preparing designs for manufacturing
- Prototype → Production transition
Design & Visualization Skills
- Strong CAD skills (Fusion 360 / SolidWorks / Rhino)
- Ability to create high-quality renders using KeyShot
- Understanding of:
- Lighting
- Materials
- Finishes
- Product presentation

- Experience with hardware startups / product development

- Understanding of Kickstarter / product storytelling
