WOTR currently operates in seven states namely Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. Our head office is in Pune.
About the role:
FarmPrecise is WOTR's farmer app (120K+ downloads, 7 states, 5 languages) that turns weather and crop-phenology data into actionable advisories. The Product Delivery Manager is the single point of accountability for that delivery and for the FPO clients it serves. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and the field: half the week is making sure the team ships the right thing on time; the other half is in front of FPO, field staff, and partners.
Key responsibilities :
Delivery (50%)
- Own the product roadmap end-to-end — from the current development plan through post-launch iterations.
- Run the engineering team day-to-day — sprint planning, standups, demos, retros. Unblock the team; never become a bottleneck.
- Make architecture and product trade-off calls with the senior engineers and project teams.
- Own quality — UAT sign-off before any release.
- Own the release — mobile store submissions, console rollouts.
- Build the team — hire, retain, mentor; manage performance; drive the engineering culture.
Client & business (50%)
- Lead pilot-FPO onboarding — identify, contract, train, and run UAT with the launch-window pilot FPO.
- Run the field cadence — monthly site visits to FPOs in Maharashtra; quarterly to FPOs in other states. Bring field insight back into the product.
- Define and report KPIs — monthly to the reporting officer, quarterly to WOTR leadership: adoption, retention, procurement-cycle completion, farmer NPS, FPO NPS.
- Translate field voice into the backlog — every site visit produces ≥ 3 written observations that feed the next sprint planning.
Must-have qualifications :
- 8–12 years of total experience, with at least 4 years owning end-to-end delivery of consumer or B2B2C software products.
- Has shipped at least one product to production with a multi-role permission model and a non-trivial mobile components.
- Has managed an engineering team of 6+ across at least two functions (backend + mobile, or backend + web).
- Strong product instincts — can write a clear user story, run a useful prioritisation discussion, and make trade-offs visible.
- Strong client-facing skills — comfortable in front of non-technical stakeholders, can run a workshop, can hold a difficult commercial conversation.
- Fluent in English; comfortable with Marathi and Hindi. Most pilot FPO conversations and field interviews happen in local languages.
- Willing to travel to FPOs in Maharashtra ~2-3 days/month and to other states quarterly.
Educational qualifications Required :
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Preferred — any one of the following paths :
- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Agriculture, or related engineering disciplines, with 2+ years of hands-on software experience early in career.
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or Rural Development; or a postgraduate degree from a rural management institute (IRMA, XIM-B, TISS, IIFM, MAN
- AGE).MBA / PGDM in any specialisation, with demonstrated software delivery experience in prior roles.
Certifications (nice to have, not required):
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP, or SAFe Agilist.
- Product management certification (Reforge, Pragmatic, or equivalent)
- Any agriculture-extension or FPO-management certification (e.g., from NAFPO, SFAC, NABARD).
Good-to-have qualifications :
- Direct experience with FPOs, agri-tech, rural last-mile platforms, or the broader Indian agri eco
system.
Hands-on background in software (former engineer, technical PM, or technical founder) — can read code, can call BS on technical excuses.
- Experience with offline-first mobile products built for low-bandwidth ruralusers.
- Familiarity with the WOTR ecosystem, climate-resilient agriculture, or watershed development work.
- Prior P&L responsibility or experience growing a customer base from pilot to scale.
- Public speaking / external representation — comfortable at conferences and donor showcases.
What this role is not:
- Not a pure project manager — we have an engineering team that runs ceremonies; we need someone who shapes what gets built and who buys it.
- Not a pure sales role — we are not optimising for top-of-funnel volume; we are optimising for FPOs that succeed with the product.
