Job details:
We have an exciting oppotunity of Product Costing Manager for our Auto Client based in Sohar, Oman
Job Title: Product Costing Manager
Location: Sohar, Oman
Reporting: CFO
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Cost Controller to join its Finance team and support growing
manufacturing operations at the Sohar facility. This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of Finance, Production, Supply Chain, and Sales — ensuring accurate cost data, robust reporting, and management insights that directly drive profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Costing & Standard Cost Management
• Develop and maintain standard cost models for all product categories across the manufacturing line.
• Review, validate, and ensure accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) in coordination with Production and Engineering teams.
• Update cost structures on an ongoing basis to reflect changes in raw material prices, labour costs, and overhead allocations.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date costing setup within the Odoo ERP system.
2. Production Cost Monitoring
• Track actual manufacturing costs against standard costs — identifying gaps, overruns, and efficiency opportunities.
• Analyse production orders and monitor cost per order across product lines and production batches.
• Flag cost overruns and operational inefficiencies to Production and Finance management with root-cause analysis.
3. Variance Analysis
• Perform regular, structured variance analysis across key cost dimensions:
– Material consumption variance — actual vs standard material usage
– Labour efficiency variance — planned vs actual labour hours and cost
– Production yield and wastage — scrap rates, rework costs, yield loss
– Overhead absorption variance — fixed and variable overhead recovery
4. Inventory Cost Control
• Monitor and maintain accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP (Work-in-Progress), and finished goods inventory.
• Analyse inventory movements and proactively identify slow-moving or obsolete materials.
• Ensure correct costing of imported materials including landed costs, freight, duties, and customs charges.
• Support periodic physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations.
5. Cost Reporting
• Prepare and distribute regular management reports including:
– Product cost analysis by SKU and category
– Manufacturing variance reports with root-cause commentary
– Profitability by product category and customer
– Cost trend analysis — month-on-month and year-on-year
– Production efficiency indicators and KPI dashboards
6. Pricing & Commercial Support
• Support Sales and Management in product pricing decisions by providing detailed cost breakdowns and margin analysis.
• Ensure target margins are maintained across the product portfolio — flagging risks where pricing may erode profitability.
• Evaluate the cost and profitability of new product introductions or customer-specific requirements.
7. ERP & Process Improvement
• Maintain and continuously improve accurate costing structures within the Odoo ERP system.
• Support ERP enhancements and improvements related to manufacturing costing modules and management
reporting.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen cost control, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
