The Wellness Shop is a fast-growing D2C beauty and personal care brand, present on our own website, major marketplaces, and quick commerce platforms. We're building a strong sourcing and product pipeline to support our expansion across beauty devices, cosmetics, and BPC categories, with operations based in Jaipur and Bengaluru.
About the Role
We're looking for a Procurement Specialist based in Guangzhou, China, with hands-on experience sourcing beauty devices (hair removal, skincare tools, personal grooming appliances), cosmetics, and other BPC products (skincare, haircare, personal care) across Chinese manufacturing hubs. This person will act as our on-ground representative — owning vendor discovery, factory visits, negotiation, quality checks, and coordination of exports to India.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard manufacturers/suppliers across China (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yiwu, and other relevant hubs) for beauty devices, cosmetics, and BPC products
- Conduct in-person factory visits, audits, and product line inspections on a regular basis
- Represent the company at trade fairs (Canton Fair, Cosmoprof Asia) and build direct factory relationships
- Build and maintain a vendor database with pricing, MOQs, lead times, and compliance certifications
Negotiation & Cost Management
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and MOQs directly with factories to optimize landed cost
- Track currency fluctuations, tariffs, and duty structures affecting cost of imports
Quality & Compliance
- Conduct/coordinate pre-shipment inspections and quality control checks on-site
- Ensure products meet Indian regulatory requirements (BIS, CDSCO for cosmetics, electrical safety certifications for devices)
- Manage documentation for customs clearance (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, BIS/CE certifications, cosmetic ingredient/MSDS documentation)
Logistics & Export Coordination
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping lines in China for sea/air freight to India
- Liaise with India-based team and CHAs (Customs House Agents) for smooth import clearance
- Track shipments end-to-end and resolve any factory-side or export issues
Cross-functional Coordination
- Work closely with India-based Product Development and Brand teams to translate product briefs into sourcing specs
- Coordinate with Finance for LC/TT payment processing and import cost reconciliation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all China-side vendor communication
Must-Haves
- Currently based in Guangzhou, China (or willing to relocate immediately)
- 6+ years of experience in China procurement/sourcing, specifically in beauty devices, cosmetics, electronics-adjacent personal care appliances, or BPC products
- Proven track record of factory visits and procurement across different Chinese regions/manufacturing hubs (Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yiwu, etc.)
- Fluent Mandarin (spoken and written) with working proficiency in English
- Working knowledge of export documentation, customs procedures, and Incoterms
- Understanding of product compliance requirements for beauty devices and cosmetics sold in India (BIS/electrical safety, CDSCO)
- Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills
Good-to-Haves
- Prior experience sourcing for an Indian or international D2C beauty/personal care brand
- Established network of factory contacts in Guangzhou and surrounding regions
- Familiarity with Alibaba, 1688.com, Global Sources, or direct factory sourcing networks
- Experience working remotely with an overseas (India-based) product/brand team
