Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and services
- Build long-term supplier partnerships and conduct regular performance reviews
- Lead vendor negotiations and contract finalization
CAPEX & Machinery Procurement
- Lead procurement of plant machinery, processing lines, utilities, and equipment
- Collaborate with engineering, projects, and production teams to define technical specifications
- Manage end-to-end CAPEX sourcing, techno-commercial evaluations, and vendor selection
- Evaluate domestic vs international suppliers for cost, quality, and reliability
- Negotiate contracts including installation, commissioning, warranties, and AMC
- Track project timelines to ensure on-time delivery and installation of equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and food-grade equipment standards
- Support plant expansion, automation, and modernization initiatives
Cost Optimization
- Drive cost reduction initiatives across both OPEX (materials) and CAPEX (equipment)
- Monitor commodity price trends and develop hedging/forward buying strategies where applicable
- Optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) for machinery and equipment
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all materials comply with food safety standards (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO, etc.)
- Coordinate with QA/QC for vendor approvals and audits
- Ensure machinery and equipment meet hygiene and regulatory standards for food processing
- Maintain audit-ready documentation
Risk Management
- Identify supply risks and develop mitigation plans
- Diversify supplier base (both materials and machinery vendors)
- Monitor risks related to imports, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical factors
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the procurement team
- Set KPIs and monitor performance
- Build capabilities in strategic sourcing and technical procurement
Digital & Process Excellence
- Implement ERP systems and procurement tools
- Drive data-based decision-making (spend analysis, demand planning)
- Standardize procurement processes including CAPEX approval workflows
