Role Description
This role will lead CAPEX project procurement for a solar cell manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The role involves managing end-to-end sourcing of project equipment, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiations. The incumbent will ensure timely delivery of goods and services while driving cost efficiency and strong vendor management. The position also ensures compliance with procurement policies and supports smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for greenfield / expansion projects and manufacturing operations, covering Project Capex requirement like solar cell manufacturing equipment, utilities, BOP, cleanroom systems, gases, chemical delivery systems, EHS systems, material handling equipment, and automation.
- Own end-to-end procurement of Capex packages for solar cell manufacturing projects from RFQ to PO award.
- Coordinate closely with Projects & Engineering teams to finalize technical specifications, BOQs, and vendor scope matrices.
- Ensure timely placement of POs in line with project schedules, erection, and commissioning plans.
- Manage Capex procurement budgets and cash flow planning in coordination with Finance.
- Lead vendor identification, technical-commercial evaluation, qualification, and onboarding in coordination with Projects, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Manage long-lead Capex items, ensuring alignment with project timelines and milestones.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives through negotiation, should-cost analysis, localization, long-term agreements, and alternate sourcing.
- Track global market trends, technology developments, pricing, and supply risks related to solar manufacturing equipment and materials.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Supplier Evaluation and sourcing processes
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or relevant discipline (MBA preferred).
- 10-15 years of experience in procurement and contracts, preferably in solar cell/module manufacturing, semiconductors, electronics, or process industries.
- Strong experience in project Capex procurement for greenfield or brownfield manufacturing setups.
- Proficiency in Contract Negotiation and Contract Management
- Ability to manage procurement workflows while maintaining compliance with industry standards.
- Exposure to international sourcing, imports, and OEM negotiations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP / SAP-based procurement systems.
- Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, customs, logistics, and international trade practices.
