What we’re looking for:
Primary Process Safety responsibilities are for the safe operations of the Ankleshwar plant. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead and drive Process Safety Management (PSM) implementation at site.
- Develop and deploy PSM standards, procedures, and KPIs.
- Coordinate safety committees, PSM meetings, and contractor safety programs.
- Provide technical guidance to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Lead PHA studies, track recommendations, and ensure closure.
- Support incident investigations and manage corrective actions.
- Oversee process safety training programs and capability building.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety metrics.
- Assist in risk assessments, audits, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support MOC, project reviews, and audit findings closure.
- Act as site Process Safety champion and manage emergency preparedness (mock drills, fire safety audits).
- Ensure proper documentation, compliance, and safety observations.
Additionally, act as a resource and member of the global Process Safety Shared Services team for the Indovinya business segment. Provide technical support to other locations in Indovinya as needed, chiefly those located within the APAC region. Participate in audit teams at other Indovinya locations.
Mission of Position
- Provide technical guidance to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement cost-effective safety solutions while promoting safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a PSM technical partner within the EHS team
- Support global sites (Pasadena, Dayton) on PSM compliance and risk-based decisions
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to ensure reliability of safety-critical systems
- Lead and conduct PHA studies and ensure recommendations are completed
- Deliver PSM training and capability building for site personnel
- Ensure alignment with corporate PSM standards
- Demonstrate collaboration, analytical thinking, and focus on risk management excellence
What will success look like in two years:
- Actively manage and support the Management of Change (MOC) process, including reviews, approvals, and training.
- Lead and support PHA, LOPA, and hazard assessments to identify and reduce risks.
- Ensure all safety recommendations are tracked and completed on time.
- Participate in and lead incident investigations and apply learnings.
- Support process safety projects and hazard reviews for new developments.
- Work with teams to identify and control major risks like fire, explosion, pressure, and chemical reactions.
- Maintain and improve facility siting and safety programs.
- Drive continuous improvement in process safety procedures.
- Conduct and support PSM training and awareness for employees.
- Ensure compliance with PSM regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Support audits and regulatory inspections.
- Track and communicate PSM performance (KPIs) across the site.
- Ensure strict adherence to MOC and safety bypass procedures.
- Promote strong safety culture with focus on hazard reporting and prevention.
- Ensure all company PSM standards are implemented and followed.
EHS responsibilities:
- To follow site EHS procedure and best practices
- Read and understand relevant procedures and perform the work safely
- Support site EHS in safety campaign, Safety observations to prevent injuries
- Follow the site PSM procedure and implement the PSM culture
Required Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong communication with service mindset and knowledge of EHS standards & regulations
- Good leadership, system thinking, and ability to develop others
- Knowledge of incident investigation techniques (Taproot/Apollo preferred)
- Understanding of OSHA PSM standards
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Good spoken and written English
- Familiarity with PHA Pro / ARA tools (preferred)
- Strong decision-making and technical expertise in reviews and discussions
- Deep knowledge of risk assessment and technical investigations
- Proven ownership and leadership in PSSR, MOC, and PHA activities
- Proactive approach in high-risk and complex situations
- Clear, timely, and assertive communication
- Strong analytical mindset
Required Experience:
10 years’ experience in chemical process or petrochemical industry
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety (or any other safety course recognized by Ministry of Labor, Govt. of India).
