About the role
What you will do
- Uphold a genuine regard for safety, ensuring employees understand and follow safety guidelines and recognizing individuals for their involvement
- Drive continuous improvement by spending time on the floor talking with operators, completing time studies, verifying/validating SOPs, etc.
- Lead projects by gathering information from hourly employees, creating tangible goals and deadlines, and reporting improvements to all employees
- Align with Department Managers on priority of projects and provides updates
- Audit quality, safety, and environmental housekeeping procedures
- Flexible to support a 24/7 operation
- Be highly organized and self-directed with an ability to prioritize projects, combined with the ability to provide and receive direction.
- Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly absorb new procedures and new industry advancements.
Education / professional background
- Four-year technical/Bachelor’s degree or Continuous Improvement Practitioner training with relevant work experience applying continuous improvement methodologies in manufacturing required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to work with manufacturing operations personnel throughout the levels of the organization
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- General knowledge of manufacturing, including the desired properties and quality standards for products
- Must have strong time management skills to handle multiple ongoing projects in addition to day-to-day process problems
- Overcome obstacles and setbacks and react with positivity and optimism in the face of unforeseen challenges
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Share Point, and the ability to quickly learn software needed to perform job specific duties.
- Flexible Packaging Industry experience (Flexo printing, extrusion lamination, and/or converting) is a plus, but not required.
- Lean/Six Sigma Certification is preferred
