Basic Function:
The Flight Controller serves as a central operational liaison responsible for coordinating and monitoring all aspects of flight activity under Part 91 and/or Part 135 regulations. This position maintains real-time operational awareness, facilitates communication between flight crews, ground support, and upholds operations standards in alignment with FAA requirements. Flight Operations Controller supports functions under the authority of the Director of Operations to ensure safe, compliance, efficient and service-centered execution of all flights. As a Flight Operations Controller, you are required to work on a rotating, on-call schedule inclusive of nights, weekends, holidays and acknowledge communication within 10 minutes & initiate operational action within 15 minutes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Flight Coordination and Scheduling
- Initial flight planning including weight and balance runway analysis and trip feasibility
- Plan and coordinate charter flight itineraries based on client requests, crew availability, and aircraft readiness.
- Assign aircraft and crew to scheduled flights in compliance with duty time regulations and operational limitations.
- Monitor real-time flight activity and adjust schedules for delays, diversions, or mechanical issues.
- All employees are required to work up to 45 hours per week
- Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure that all flights are conducted in accordance with 14 CFR Part 135 regulations, company Operations Specifications and the company General Operations Manual
- Verify that required documentation (e.g., flight manifests, weight & balance, weather briefings) is complete and accurate.
- Maintain operational control records and ensure proper flight release procedures are followed.
- After-Hours On-Call Expectations
- Communicate routing changes, weather updates, and operational adjustments.
- Must acknowledge communication within 10 minutes and initiate operational action within 15 minutes.
- Maintain secure remote system access capability.
- Follow structured documentation procedures for after-hours activity.
- Communication and Flight Following
- Communicate changes in routing, weather, or operational conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Operational Support
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure aircraft availability and airworthiness.
- Assist in resolving irregular operations, including crew substitutions, aircraft swaps, and emergency response.
- Support the Director of Operations and Chief Pilot in implementing operational policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the operational needs of the organization.
- Will arrange and coordinate client concierge services including but not limited to catering and ground transportation
- When needed, will arrange pilot travel accommodations and input expenses
- Will use all applicable tools to dispatch fuel according to best pricing structure and track inconsistencies when necessary.
- Data Management and Reporting
- Log flight activity, crew duty times, and aircraft utilization metrics.
- Generate reports for internal review and FAA audits.
- Participate in post-flight reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
