Job details:
The RoleImagine designing the shopping experience for a homeowner who's renovating their kitchen — choosing tiles, figuring out grout, matching cabinets — all in one place. Now imagine doing the same for a contractor managing 5 sites simultaneously, with different suppliers, different SKU needs, and brutal timelines.
Homerun serves both. And we need a designer who can hold both realities in their head and build experiences that are intuitive, beautiful, and purposeful for each.
As Principal UX Designer, you'll be our founding design voice — setting the bar for craft, building the design system, shaping how thousands of users eventually experience Homerun. You'll start as a deeply skilled IC, and as we scale, you'll build and lead the design team.
What You'll Work OnConsumer Experience (B2C)- Design the end-to-end homeowner journey — discovery, product exploration, comparison, purchase, and post-order
- Build experiences that make a complex, technical category (home materials) feel approachable and even joyful
- Design personalized surfaces that adapt to project type, room, and user preference
B2B Experience- Design tools for contractors and interior designers — bulk ordering, saved projects, vendor coordination, and reorder flows
- B2B UX requires a different lens: efficiency over aesthetics, power-user tools, and workflow-first thinking
Design System- Build and own Homerun's design system — components, tokens, interaction patterns, and documentation
- Ensure consistency across every surface while leaving room for category-specific expression
Cross-functional Collaboration- Work closely with Product and Engineering as a true trio — shaping specs, not just executing them
- Bring user research insights into every design decision
Future Team Leadership- As Homerun scales, you'll hire and mentor the design team — setting the culture of craft, feedback, and velocity
What We're Looking For- Atleast 5+ years designing great consumer experiences — e-commerce, marketplace, or category-rich consumer apps preferred
- A portfolio that demonstrates range: information architecture, visual design, interaction design, and mobile-first thinking
- Experience designing for both B2C and B2B use cases (or strong desire to)
- Exceptional taste and craft — you notice things others don't and care about details that don't make it into Jira tickets
- Ability to think at the system level AND sweat the micro-interaction
- Experience working in fast-moving, early-stage environments — you're comfortable with ambiguity and good at creating clarity
- Passion for building something from scratch — this is a 0→1 design role at its core
💡 You Might Be the One If...- Your portfolio includes work that reimagined how users interact with a complex category or a functional workflow
- You've built or significantly contributed to a design system and know what makes one truly usable by engineers
- You think about accessibility, performance, and edge cases as part of the design process — not as afterthoughts
- You're energized by the whitespace of a new product, not unsettled by it
- You want to eventually lead a team — and you have the EQ and mentorship instinct to do it well
CompensationUpto ₹40 LPA + ESOPs
