About Rivofi:
Rivofi builds automated cash management for everyday savers: an "autopilot", a AI native company, that moves idle cash into higher-yield accounts across banking and brokerage partners without the user lifting a finger. We move real customer money daily, so our engineering bar is a bank's bar: correctness, auditability, and security are the floor, not features. We're a small, high-leverage team. Every engineer owns real surface area, with no process layer between you and production.
Role Description:
We're hiring a Principal Software Engineer, based in India, to take ownership of core parts of Rivofi's money-movement platform and Autopilot algorithm. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a management track. You'll be writing and reviewing production code that moves real customer money, designing for correctness and auditability from the start, and operating with the judgment of someone who's done this before in a regulated, high-stakes environment. You'll work directly with the CTO and a small founding engineering team, with real architectural ownership from day one.
What you'll work on:
- Money movement infrastructure: ACH transfers, sweep/rebalancing logic, and integrations with banking and brokerage partners, systems where a subtle bug means real dollars in the wrong place.
- The Autopilot algorithm: the decision engine that decides when and how much to sweep, balancing yield, liquidity, and user-defined buffers.
- Core platform: a Python/FastAPI backend, a unified React Native app (iOS/Android/web from one codebase), and the infrastructure underneath (AWS, MongoDB, an in-flight migration to Postgres).
- Compliance-grade engineering: every change that touches money or PII needs to hold up to a bank partner or auditor asking "prove it." You'll be building with append-only ledgers, full audit trails, and least-privilege access as first-class design constraints, not afterthoughts.
Qualifications
- 8+ years building production backend systems, with real ownership of systems handling money, or other domains with an equivalently low tolerance for silent failure (payments, trading, healthcare, critical infra).
- Strong hands-on ability in Python (or comparable backend language) and comfort picking up FastAPI/async systems, plus enough full-stack range to be dangerous in a React / React Native codebase when needed.
- Real experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred). You've owned services in production, not just shipped code and handed it off.
- A track record of designing for auditability, not just correctness. You instinctively think about "how would this look to a bank's risk team or a regulator" when you touch financial data or write a data migration.
- Principal-level judgment: you can walk into ambiguity, scope the right solution, and disagree productively with the CTO when the audit trail or data model is at risk of a shortcut.
- Prior fintech, banking, or payments experience is a strong plus, but not a hard requirement if you can demonstrate the same rigor from an adjacent regulated or high-stakes domain.
