Job details:
Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We share the collective intelligence and risk sharing expertise of the market’s brightest minds, working together for a braver world.
Our role is to inspire courage, so tomorrow’s progress isn’t limited by today’s risks.
Our shared values: we are brave; we are stronger together; we do the right thing; guide what we do and how we act. If you share our values and our passion to build a future that’s more sustainable, resilient and inclusive, you’ll find a home at Lloyd’s – build a braver future with us.
This is a rare opportunity to represent Lloyd’s at the heart of one of the world’s most ambitious international financial centres.
As our Principal Officer in GIFT City, you’ll be Lloyd’s most senior leader in India. You’ll protect our licence to trade, shape the regulatory environment, and help the market grow in a way that’s sustainable, trusted and commercially relevant.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead Lloyd’s presence in GIFT City with clarity, confidence and integrity. That means:
- Acting as Lloyd’s senior representative with the regulator, building strong, transparent relationships and protecting our long‑term trading rights.
- Setting the tone for governance, compliance and risk management across the platform. And making sure standards stay high.
- Leading day‑to‑day branch operations, from financial oversight to operational resilience and audit readiness.
- Bringing Lloyd’s strategy to life in India, aligned to our wider APMEA and global priorities.
- Supporting managing agents, brokers and service companies to succeed, grow and create value through the Lloyd’s platform.
- Advising new entrants to the market and assessing service company readiness with sound judgement and commercial insight.
- Building trusted relationships across government, regulators and the wider market. And representing Lloyd’s with authority on the regional and global stage.
- Leading, coaching and developing a small but high‑impact local team. Creating a culture where people feel empowered to speak up and do their best work.
What You’ll Bring
You don’t need to tick every box. But you’ll likely bring:
- Deep experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector, with strong regulatory and governance expertise.
- A proven ability to work with regulators and senior stakeholders, earning trust through openness and clarity.
- Strategic judgement, with the confidence to take decisions that stand up to scrutiny.
- Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in market development and growth.
- Experience leading teams through influence, not hierarchy.
- Strong communication skills, with the presence to represent Lloyd’s credibly at the highest level.
Most importantly, you’ll share our values. You’ll be curious, courageous and collaborative. And you’ll believe that better outcomes come from diverse perspectives and inclusive leadership.
Diversity and inclusion are a focus for us – Lloyd’s aim is to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we work in. One where everyone is treated with dignity and respect to achieve their full potential. In practice, this means we are positive and inclusive about making workplace adjustments, we offer regular health and wellbeing programmes, diversity and inclusion training, employee networks, mentoring and volunteering opportunities as well as investment into your professional development. You can read more about diversity and inclusion on our website.
By choosing Lloyd's, you'll be part of a team that brings together the best minds in the industry, and together with our underwriters and brokers, we create innovative, responsive solutions allowing us to share risk and solve complex problems.
