About the role:
The Principal, Procurement – Materials & Packaging Solution lead is responsible for tailoring and executing technology-driven transformation and operational excellence for end-to-end sourcing of materials and packaging.
This role leads the adoption, integration, and optimization of technologies, automation capabilities and AI enabled solutions to enhance efficiency, transparency, and value delivery across the areas of materials and packaging, working closely with manufacturing sites (planners and finance) and procurement buyers managing them. The role works at the intersection of Procurement, Technology, Data, and Operations to build a modern, digitally enabled set of processes and analytics, by leveraging advanced digital tools, process automation, and analytics.
Role Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Transformation
- Translate the procurement digital strategy and execute it for direct materials and packaging sourcing
- Identify opportunities to automate and optimize sourcing processes
- Lead implementation of procurement technologies (e.g., e-sourcing, SRM, analytics platforms) across directs
- Drive adoption of digital tools across global directs and packaging sourcing teams
Sourcing Excellence (Direct Materials & Packaging)
- Partner with category managers to enhance sourcing strategies using data insights
- Enable should-cost modeling, clean-sheet analysis, and digital RFx processes
- Improve supplier selection, negotiation, and contract lifecycle management through digital tools
Data & Analytics
- Establish data governance and improve data quality across directs & packaging sourcing systems
- Develop dashboards and KPIs (cost savings, supplier performance, risk metrics)
- Leverage predictive analytics for demand, pricing trends, and supply risk
Supplier Collaboration & Innovation
- Drive implementation and adoption of digital supplier collaboration platforms (SRM tools)
- Enhance transparency and real-time communication with key suppliers
- Drive supplier innovation programs using digital channels
Process Automation
- Map and optimise procurement processes for efficiency and scalability
- Deploy automation (RPA, AI tools) for transactional sourcing activities
- Reduce cycle times for sourcing and supplier onboarding
Risk & Resilience
- Integrate digital tools for supply risk monitoring and mitigation
- Improve visibility into tier-2/3 suppliers through integration, data insights and automation
- Support ESG and compliance tracking through digital solutions
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the bridge between Procurement, Tech, Finance, and Sites
- Lead change management and training for digital adoption for directs & packaging
- Influence senior stakeholders on digital investment and value realization

Basic Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Risk Management, or any Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience
- 15+ years of experience in procurement, digital transformation, or procurement technology
- Strong experience implementing procurement platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, Ivalua), with focus on systems and tools
- Proven track record of delivering automation and process transformation initiatives
- Solid understanding of procurement best practices, policies, and tools
- Experience managing large, complex projects and end-to-end service / operations delivery
- Strong skills in automation technologies (RPA, AI, workflow tools), data analytics, and dashboarding
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
- High level of fluency in spoken and written English
- Strong analytical, written, verbal communication, and influencing skills, including creating executive-level presentations and business cases
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams directly and influence stakeholders indirectly, including senior leaders
- Experience working in matrixed and globally distributed environments
- Ability to perform effectively under high-pressure conditions and tight deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills with minimal oversight and high learning agility
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Risk Management, or related fields
- Procurement or related professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM, PMP)
- Experience specifically leading global or enterprise-wide procurement digital transformations
- Proven capability to motivate, coach, mentor, and develop team members
- Strong change management mindset with the ability to partner across functions to drive adoption
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and knowledge sharing
