About The Role
Devo runs a petabyte-scale, real-time security analytics platform trusted by global enterprises. We are converting it into an agentic data lake: a platform where AI agents ingest, enrich, retrieve, and act on machine data autonomously. This role owns the architecture of that conversion.
You will partner directly with the SVP of Technology to lead the design and support the execution of this transformation across distributed engineering teams in India and Spain. You start as a Principal Engineer with the explicit opportunity to grow into the Chief Architect role.
What You'll Do
- Own the target architecture for the agentic data lake and the migration path from today's platform to it, spanning ingestion, retrieval, alerting, and orchestration
- Define how agentic components — LLM-driven agents, tool protocols (e.g., MCP), retrieval, context and memory systems — integrate with a high-throughput data platform
- Write architecture that ships: design docs, interface contracts, sequencing plans — then stay hands-on through execution with the teams building it
- Lead design reviews and set the technical bar across senior and staff engineers in India and Spain
- Sequence the conversion so it lands without disrupting a live platform serving enterprise security operations
- Act as a technical thought partner to product and engineering leadership on build/buy/extend decisions
Qualifications
Titles and years matter less than evidence. We want to see systems you designed that are still running at scale.
- 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed data systems, with principal- or staff-plus-level scope
- Deep expertise in at least two of: storage engines, query/retrieval engines, streaming ingestion, indexing and columnar formats, high-throughput pipelines
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs and agentic systems — orchestration, tool use, retrieval, context management. You have shipped this, not just prototyped it
- A track record of driving architecture across multiple teams and time zones, through design quality and clarity rather than title
- Exceptional written communication; your design docs move organizations
- Based in India, comfortable collaborating across India, Spain, and US time zones
Nice to Have
- Security analytics, SIEM, or observability domain experience
- Query language or DSL design experience
- Contributions to open-source data infrastructure or agent frameworks
