Role Purpose
The School Principal at
21K School is a visionary academic leader, culture architect, and systems thinker who brings the school’s mission to life in a
digital-first, learner-centric ecosystem. The role exists to ensure that every learner experiences meaningful, engaging, and future-ready learning while every facilitator thrives in a culture of trust, innovation, and excellence.
The Principal is responsible for translating 21K School’s vision into scalable academic practices, nurturing learner agency, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and building a high-performing remote academic team.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)
- Visionary Academic & Pedagogical Leadership
- Lead the implementation of 21K School’s vision, mission, and academic philosophy across all grades and programs.
- Champion learner agency, voice, and choice in curriculum design, classroom practices, and assessment models.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment aligned to board requirements (Indian / British Curriculum).
- Embed experiential, inquiry-based, project-based, and interdisciplinary learning across the school.
- Promote holistic learner development, focusing on skills, dispositions, and habits of mind required for life beyond examinations.
- Inclusive Education & Special Educational Needs (SEN) Leadership
- Lead and strengthen 21K School’s commitment to inclusive education, ensuring access, participation, and progress for all learners.
- Provide strategic oversight of Special Educational Needs (SEN) provisions across the school.
- Collaborate closely with the SEN team, Student Success, and facilitators to design and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and learner accommodations.
- Ensure inclusive pedagogical practices, differentiated instruction, and universal design for learning (UDL) principles are embedded in online classrooms.
- Build facilitator capacity to identify, support, and refer learners with diverse learning needs in a virtual environment.
- Ensure compliance with inclusion-related guidelines, documentation, and best practices relevant to Indian and British curricula.
- Digital-First Learning Excellence
- Lead and strengthen best practices in online teaching and learning, ensuring high-impact virtual classrooms.
- Ensure effective use of LMS platforms, digital tools, and EdTech solutions to enhance learning experiences.
- Drive innovation in lesson design, assessments, and learner interactions suited to online schooling.
- Collaborate with Academic Operations and Tech teams to continuously improve digital learning systems.
- Academic Systems, Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Design, review, and implement robust yet agile academic systems, policies, and frameworks, including inclusion and SEN protocols.
- Ensure compliance with board affiliation, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee academic planning, curriculum mapping, assessment calendars, moderation processes, and accommodations.
- Balance compliance requirements with innovation and flexibility in academic practices.
- People Leadership, Culture & Inclusive Capacity Building
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, inclusion-oriented remote academic team aligned to 21K values.
- Foster a culture of empathy, equity, trust, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Lead academic observations, feedback cycles, coaching, and performance reviews with an inclusion lens.
- Partner with HR on recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and succession planning, including SEN capability building.
- Act as a culture carrier of inclusive values in all internal and external interactions.
- Learner Experience, Wellbeing & Safeguarding
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all learners in an online setting.
- Work closely with Student Success and SEN teams to monitor learner wellbeing, engagement, and progress.
- Oversee safeguarding, wellbeing protocols, and referral mechanisms.
- Lead early identification, intervention, and support systems for academic and socio-emotional needs.
- Parent Partnership & Inclusive Community Engagement
- Build strong, trust-based partnerships with parents, including families of learners with additional needs.
- Lead inclusive parent orientations, SEN consultations, and academic connect sessions.
- Address parent concerns with empathy, clarity, and solution-oriented approaches.
- Represent the school effectively in community forums, inclusion discussions, and external engagements.
- Data, Insights & Inclusive Decision-Making
- Track and analyse academic, wellbeing, and inclusion-related data.
- Use insights to inform interventions, resource allocation, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare MIS reports highlighting learner progress, inclusion impact, and support effectiveness.
- Identify risks, trends, and opportunities related to learner diversity and support systems.
- Collaboration & Organisational Alignment
- Collaborate closely with Academic Operations, SEN, Student Success, Tech, Admissions, and Marketing teams.
- Support school-wide initiatives, events, and strategic projects.
- Be available for offline responsibilities, events, reviews, and promotions as required.
- Travel when required to support organisational goals and school initiatives.
Selection Criteria
- Education & Academic Background
- Master’s Degree from a recognised university.
- B.Ed., PGCE, PGCEi, or equivalent international teaching qualification mandatory.
- Additional certifications or exposure to IB programmes, leadership training, or international education frameworks preferred.
- Strong academic background from reputed institutions preferred.
- Experience
- 10–15 years of progressive experience within K–12 international education environments.
- Proven leadership experience within British Curriculum schools and international academic ecosystems.
- Strong exposure to Cambridge and/or Pearson Edexcel frameworks mandatory.
- Exposure to IB philosophy, inquiry-led learning, or IB school environments strongly preferred.
- Experience managing academic operations across international geographies, multicultural learner communities, and distributed faculty teams.
- Prior experience in online schools, blended learning ecosystems, or digital-first education environments preferred.
- Demonstrated success managing large academic teams and scalable academic systems.
- Experience handling accreditation processes, audits, inspections, and academic governance frameworks.
- Strong parent engagement and stakeholder management experience in international education settings.
- Willingness to work flexibly across global time zones and travel as required.
