Job details:
High-performance audio starts long before a speaker plays a sound. It starts with a Sigma-Delta ADC, a precision DAC, a brilliantly architected Codec — and the engineer who designed it all. At Texas Instruments, we're building the next generation of audio converters for Automotive, Industrial, and Personal Electronics — and we need the analog IC leader who can own it from concept to silicon to production.
📌 About the Role
Texas Instruments is seeking a Principal Analog IC Design Lead to join our Audio Converter Design team — a group with full end-to-end charter for developing cutting-edge Audio ADCs, DACs, Codecs, and Class D integrated devices for the Personal Electronics, Automotive, and Industrial market segments.
These are highly integrated mixed-signal ICs with on-chip digital signal processing capabilities — some of the most technically complex and market-impactful designs in TI's analog portfolio.
As a core member of this team, you'll carry complete product ownership from architectural definition through volume production. You'll collaborate with Digital Design, Layout, Firmware, Verification, Validation, Test, Systems, Applications, and Marketing teams — and you'll be the technical anchor that holds it all together.
This is a role for an analog engineer who thinks architecturally, leads decisively, and delivers flawlessly.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Lead an Analog IC design team with full product ownership and responsibility — from definition through release to manufacturing
- Drive architectural decisions and process selection — make assignments, provide design guidance, develop schedules, and monitor progress throughout the project
- Hands-on design participation in high-performance Sigma-Delta ADCs, DACs, PLLs, Op-amps, and Class D integrated audio devices
- Evaluate design results during both the design phase and silicon evaluation to ensure all technical objectives are met on schedule
- Provide design and layout guidance to physical layout engineers; monitor IC layout progress against schedule and quality targets
- Collaborate with Design Verification teams during pre-PG phases to ensure all technical tasks are completed before process go-ahead
- Work with Systems, Applications, and Marketing teams to develop product briefs, datasheets, application notes, and contribute to roadmap and new concept creation
- Drive silicon debug and provide design support for customer issues and field returns
- Enable successful production transfer by collaborating with Validation, Product Engineering, and Test Engineering teams
- Lead customer and field sales discussions — understanding customer designs, solving problems, and supporting design wins
- Actively hire, develop, and evaluate engineering talent — growing the team into the next generation of analog leaders
✅ Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5–15 years of analog design experience with demonstrated Chip Lead or Analog Design Lead ownership
- 4+ years hands-on experience with high-performance Sigma-Delta ADC / DAC / PLL / Op-amp design
- Proven experience as Chip Lead or Analog Design Lead — owning a full project from spec to silicon
- Strong understanding of signal processing, low-noise, low-distortion, and high-efficiency analog circuit design
- Mixed-signal IC design expertise — integrating analog precision with on-chip digital processing
- Proven record of nurturing and developing engineering talent
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
🌟 Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Class D amplifier integration in audio codec or converter devices
- Background in audio IC design for Automotive (AEC-Q100), Industrial, or Personal Electronics market segments
- Familiarity with on-chip DSP architectures in mixed-signal audio devices
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Experience communicating project status, risks, and solutions to senior management and customers
- Demonstrated ability to quickly ramp on new systems, processes, and technologies
- Strong time management skills that consistently enable on-time project delivery
- Experience with IC CAD tools — Cadence toolset, SPICE/Spectre simulation, top-down design methodologies
- Knowledge of semiconductor IC processing, advanced packaging, and production test solutions
