What You'll Be Doing…
This is a Principal Engineer AI Science role where you will serve as the technical authority and hands-on leader in designing, building, and scaling next-generation Agentic AI solutions for autonomous network operations. You will be instrumental in the technical implementation of the core "AI brain" framework, working across the five-layer architecture of autonomous agents designed for continuous coverage: detection, aggregation, synthesis, investigation, and recommendation.
- Serve as the deep technical expert and lead for the development and productionization of Generative AI and multi-agent systems.
- Architect and implement complex, autonomous, self-correcting agents capable of reasoning, using tools, and solving multi-step business tasks in non-linear workflows.
- Drive the core technical efforts in Agentic Workflow Orchestration, including designing robust agent-to-agent communication patterns and structuring the overall task flow.
- Lead the engineering and optimization of Large Language Model (LLM) components through advanced Prompt Engineering, Fine-tuning, and Context Engineering (RAG pipelines).
- Design and deliver high-precision Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using vector databases and semantic search to ground models in enterprise data.
- Define and execute rigorous experimental protocols (A/B testing, hypothesis testing) and custom evaluation suites to prove the reliability and auditability of AI solutions.
- Provide technical validation and architectural oversight to safely integrate autonomous solutions into the technology stack and ensure alignment with AI governance principles.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior data scientists and engineers on MLOps best practices and advanced AI implementation.
What We're Looking For…
Your primary focus will be transforming reactive network operations into a 24/7 proactive workforce by driving the technical roadmap for Agentic AI. You will ensure the delivery of high-impact autonomous tools that generate evidence-based root cause hypotheses and resolved, actionable plans for automated network implementation.
You'll Need To Have
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more year of work experience.
- Six or more years or relevant work experience.
- Six or more years of experience in practicing data science or AI engineering in a business environment, focusing on applying AI/ML, GenAI, and Agentic frameworks.
- Deep technical mastery of Prompt Engineering, Context Engineering, and building Agents Skills & Tools.
- Expertise in distributed computing systems and strong coding proficiency in Python and Spark.
- Proven AI Hygiene experience by designing and deploying end-to-end MLOps and LLM Ops pipelines, including versioning, real-time monitoring, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Experience with deep learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Foundation Model architectures (LLM/SLM).
- Exceptional ability to translate complex model designs and outputs into confident, prescriptive business decisions.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Prior experience with telecommunications industry data, 4G/5G technologies, or network automation use cases.
- Familiarity with specific Agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) and evaluation frameworks (e.g., Galileo, Deepevals).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP) and Big Data technologies.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
