About the role

As the Product Designer for PC Financial, you will be responsible for working with other Product Designers, Content Designers, Product Managers, and Developers on the PC Financial experience to build thoughtful and useful experiences that our customers just can't live without. You will work in a collaborative environment to research, ideate, design, and test new features and user experience improvements and ship accessible, industry-leading digital experiences for our customers and business. What You'll Do Be customer-focused – We measure our success in terms of our customers' satisfaction and delight with every part of the experience we offer. We serve all Canadians, and their needs are not homogeneous; your challenge is to find ways to understand and meet those needs. Be collaborative – You value everyone's perspectives – customers, your colleagues – and one of your most powerful design skills is facilitation to help everyone on your team understand the full context of a problem, opportunity, or solution and come to a mutual understanding. You build trust with your team, partners, and collaborators by leading with curiosity and compassion, treating them as equals, and setting and achieving shared outcomes. Be outcomes-focused – Customer and business outcomes are everyone's responsibility. You're a systems thinker who can think beyond screen design to understand how our customers' and our business' broader context inter-connect and influence user experience design decisions. Be hypothesis driven – You love the problem, not your solutions. Your design practice is grounded in the acknowledgement that every solution is a hypothesis built on assumptions and that those hypotheses and assumptions need to be tested and validated. Be research- and data-informed – You use the power of research and data to identify problems, opportunities, and solutions. Because you understand what types of insights each of these different data sources can provide, you know what type of data to ask for, as well as how to coordinate, interpret, and use that data to make strategic design decisions. Be self-managed – You know how to provide design project management leadership by scoping your work effort and collaborating with product managers, designers, and developers to sequence your work. Problem Discovery, Definition & Goal Setting: You'll collaborate with your team to frame problems and opportunities, and facilitate discussions to help colleagues reach a mutual understanding. Interaction Design: You know when and why to apply interaction design processes to achieve the right outcomes with your team. Your focus will be in the interplay between words, visuals, space, time, and behaviours of digital user interfaces. Your work product will include journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, and wireframes. Art Direction & Visual Design: You'll design the high-fidelity interfaces that we build and create all design artifacts for front-end developers to implement. You understand how to convey visual personality, tone, look and feel, and the flourish that is appropriate to your product. Design Systems Thinking: You'll ensure that design solutions use and further the team's design system, and leverage or iterate on existing patterns whenever possible. You'll identify undefined or inconsistent patterns and propose scalable solutions. You'll encourage and facilitate the shared naming of elements across design and development on the team. Design Research, Validation & Iteration: You'll add to and lead user and market research activities, and synthesize their results. You'll use a range of mixed methods tools from generative to evaluative, experimentation, and in-market performance to improve your work. You'll supervise the performance of your work post-launch and continue to optimize based on data. Inclusive Design: You'll ensure that our digital products can be experienced by everyone, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve. You have an applied understanding of AODA design requirements and can apply knowledge of inclusive design 'grey areas' that may not be legal requirements, but improve our digital products for everyone.
